POSITION SUMMARY:
The Chair of the Thomas School of Global Leadership serves as an academic leader equipping faith-based leaders across corporate, ministry, higher education, non-profit, and public sectors. Combining three key roles-Chair of the School, Program Director for the Doctorate in Strategic Leadership (DSL), and Executive Director of Thomas International Partnerships-this position oversees academic programs, faculty, doctoral operations, and global institutional partnerships in alignment with MACU's mission and the Church of God (Anderson) tradition
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Chair, Thomas School of Global Leadership
- Lead the vision and strategic direction for the School of Global Leadership, aligning programs with MACU's mission
- Direct the assessment of the student learning plan for the School, including:
- Compliance with MACU assessment policies and practices
- Analysis of assessment data
- Identification and implementation of interventions to address issues raised by assessment data
- Regular reporting of assessment and intervention information to the appropriate stakeholders
- Teach graduate courses in the Master of Arts in Leadership and the Doctorate in Strategic Leadership programs
- Supervise faculty and curriculum development across undergraduate and graduate programs
- Conduct regular faculty development for full-time and part-time faculty in the School
- Coordinate the scheduling of Leadership courses in collaboration with the Academic deans
- Recruit, advise, and support students in the Thomas School of Global Leadership
Program Director, Doctoral Program
- Launch and manage all academic and operational aspects of the DSL program
- Manage faculty involvement, student advising, doctoral projects, and program assessment
- Develop DSL courses in partnership with faculty, SMES, and Curriculum Services
- Support strategic enrollment growth, marketing, and student success initiatives
Executive Director, Thomas International Partnerships
- Lead and cultivate global academic collaborations, including but not limited to MACU's emerging strategic partnership with Sharon Community College (India)
- Develop student exchange programs (short-term immersion, virtual exchange, and pathway programs)
- Initiate joint curriculum and accreditation alignment to ensure transferability and academic excellence
- Foster faculty exchange, pedagogical training, and joint research opportunities
- Collaborate with global partners to develop faith-based leadership training programs and community engagement initiatives
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Strong alignment with the mission of Mid-America Christian University and the values of the Church of God (Anderson)
- Demonstrated ability to lead academic programs and global initiatives in a faith-based higher education environment
- Proven capacity for strategic planning, program administration, and cross-cultural collaboration
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills
- Experience mentoring students and supporting diverse student populations, including international learners
- Ability to employ appropriate technology and best practices in teaching both traditional and adult learners
- Ability to integrate the Christian worldview into leadership education and global engagement
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
- Earned doctorate (Ph.D., Ed.D., or DSL) in Leadership, Business, or a closely related field from an accredited institution.
- Minimum of 7 years of higher education experience with a background in university teaching and academic administration.
- Active Christian faith aligned with the Church of God (Anderson)/Wesleyan tradition and institutional mission.
- Proven ability to communicate, collaborate, and lead effectively in international or cross-cultural contexts.
- Minimum of 5 years of leadership experience in marketplace, nonprofit, or ministry settings.
- Experience with accreditation standards, curriculum design, doctoral instruction, program administration, and doctoral project committees.
COMPUTER SKILLS:
- Proficiency with learning management systems (LMS) such as Canvas
- Familiarity with student information systems and academic administration platforms (e.g., Jenzabar, Watermark, Salesforce)
- Competency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Experience with video conferencing tools (e.g., Zoom, Google Meet) for remote teaching and international collaboration
- Ability to utilize digital tools for curriculum development, instructional design, and online pedagogy
- Understanding of data management and reporting tools for academic assessment and institutional planning
