About the role: Frontend / UX Engineer for Robotics Data Operations Are you a frontend or full-stack engineer who enjoys creating intuitive interfaces for complex technical workflows? Do you want to design user experiences that help engineers, researchers, operators, and customers manage robotics data campaigns and dataset quality?
We are seeking a
Frontend / UX Engineer to build the user-facing applications of the Robotics Data Platform. These applications will allow users to create data campaigns, monitor ingestion status, review dataset quality, manage annotations, inspect robot episodes, and understand whether data is ready for model training.
This role is ideal for someone who can combine strong frontend engineering skills with a passion for usable technical products, data visualization, and AI/robotics workflows.
What will you do? - Build the Platform UI: Develop web applications for robotics data campaign management, dataset review, annotation workflows, and quality dashboards.
- Design Technical Workflows: Translate complex data operations into intuitive and efficient user journeys for engineers, researchers, and customer users.
- Visualize Dataset Quality: Create dashboards for data completeness, modality coverage, validation errors, synchronization issues, and training readiness.
- Support Human-in-the-Loop Review: Build interfaces for reviewing, approving, correcting, and annotating robotics data.
- Develop Episode Inspection Views: Enable users to inspect robot episodes, sensor streams, metadata, task context, and validation results.
- Collaborate on APIs: Work closely with backend engineers and platform architects to define frontend-friendly APIs and integration patterns.
- Ensure Usability and Accessibility: Apply user-centered design principles, responsive layouts, accessibility standards, and Siemens UX guidelines where applicable.
- Support Customer Readiness: Build interfaces that are professional, secure, understandable, and suitable for internal and pilot customer use.
- Drive Frontend Quality: Implement automated tests, component documentation, maintainable architecture, and clean code practices.
What you will bring: - Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Human-Computer Interaction, Software Engineering, Design Engineering, or a related field.
- Frontend Development: Strong experience with React, TypeScript, modern JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and frontend build tooling.
- UX for Technical Products: Experience designing or implementing interfaces for developer tools, data platforms, engineering workflows, AI tools, or industrial software.
- Data Visualization: Ability to create clear visualizations for status, metrics, quality, time-series, media, and metadata.
- API Integration: Experience integrating with REST, GraphQL, gRPC-web, or event-driven backend systems.
- Software Quality: Experience with frontend testing, component libraries, design systems, accessibility, and maintainable UI architecture.
- Product Thinking: Ability to understand user needs, challenge requirements, and propose pragmatic workflow improvements.
- Collaboration: Ability to work closely with product owners, backend engineers, researchers, and users.
- Communication: Strong ability to explain design choices, trade-offs, and user experience considerations.
What sets you apart: - Experience with Siemens design systems, industrial UX, or complex enterprise software.
- Experience with annotation tools, data review tools, media/video inspection, or AI dataset platforms.
- Familiarity with robotics, machine vision, simulation, or industrial automation.
- Experience with dashboards for observability, data quality, or MLOps.
- Experience using AI tools to accelerate prototyping, UI testing, documentation, or code generation.
Salary: Salary is commensurate with experience, and base salary ranges between $85,000- $130,000 CAD, excluding bonus and benefits. In addition to base salary, this role includes eligibility for an annual discretionary bonus of 10% of base salary, based on Company performance metrics.
