A Day in the Life:
Dry Bulk Freight Trading and Operating responsibilities.
What You'll Be Doing
Chartering
• Support the Bunge Latin America commodities traders with Ocean Freight backing for spot and forward business.
• Maintain the profitability and effectiveness of vessels and cargo contracts using all available tools. • Ensure close coordination and communication with the Freight Product Line, to maximize the efficiency of the company's vessels and trading opportunities.
• Develop new relationships and ensure that current relationships with brokers, owners, customers, agents, and other service providers are maintained and leveraged to improve trading capabilities.
• Focus on time/voyage chartering that add value to our flows.
Operational Excellence
• Bunge software data input and maintenance according to company rules.
• Produce internal reporting documents regarding the financial and other aspects of freight trading. • Provide best in class customer service to both internal & external customers.
• Full engagement with freight operations group to execute voyages and cooperate closely with ships masters, technical managers, customers, agents, brokers, and various other entities.
• Assist in planning, routing, bunkering, laytime calculations, and other operating functions as needed, as well as interacting with other BLA and cross-company departments.
Third Party & Positioning
• Assist in hedging the overall freight & bunkers position according to company strategy, available tools, and position limits.
• Assist in the development of market analysis and trading strategies to advance growth opportunities in the region. • To constantly look for arbitrage opportunities derived from market imperfections on vessel types, geographies, etc.
• Identify new business opportunities and work to expand the freight portfolio via multiple commodities and third-party activity.
• Build close relationships with key potential new customers across the Americas that complement the existing network of buyers.
• Expand third party business aligned with company objectives, via full cargos and expanding parceling opportunities all over the Americas."
• Focus on time charter equivalent earnings, long term contracts, and relationships that add value to our flows.
Skills/Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in business administration, economics, or closely related field.
- 5 years of experience as an Associate Trader Dry Bulk Freight or similar role in the Agribusiness industry to include a minimum of 2 years of experience with vessel operations, future pricing, logistics and IMOS." Solid understanding of Freight Operations a must.
- Knowledgeable of commercial shipping contracts. Understanding of basics of maritime law.
- Solid analytical and negotiation skills.
- Experience with Profit & Loss calculations and interpretation.
- Able to work in a fast paced and stressful environment where organizational and decision-making skills are essential in handling multiple tasks.
