Our People division is growing, and we are seeking a Studies Superintendent to join our Fourmile Project team. In this role, you will lead and manage medium- to long-term mine studies that drive strategic planning, operational optimization, and underground growth initiatives. You will provide technical leadership, oversee multidisciplinary study teams, and ensure deliverables meet operational, corporate, and regulatory standards. The Superintendent will collaborate closely with Mine Engineering, Geology, Geotechnical, Ventilation, Operations, and Project teams to evaluate expansion opportunities, assess economic scenarios, and deliver actionable recommendations to senior leadership.

Responsibilities:
  • Lead and manage all underground mine study phases, including scoping, pre-feasibility, feasibility, and life-of-mine updates.
  • Develop study schedules, budgets, scopes of work, and resource plans.
  • Oversee and mentor a team of engineers, analysts, and technical specialists.
  • Ensure studies comply with corporate governance, stage-gate requirements, and best-practice engineering standards.
  • Develop and review mine designs, schedules, production plans, and infrastructure requirements for underground expansions or optimizations.
  • Coordinate with Geology, Resource Modeling, and Geotechnical teams to ensure input data accuracy and alignment with study assumptions.
  • Evaluate mining methods, sequencing, ventilation, materials handling, and backfill strategies.
  • Conduct trade-off analyses regarding mine design, production rate, capital/operating costs, and risk mitigation.
  • Oversee economic evaluations, including NPV, sensitivity analyses, and risk assessments.
  • Collaborate with site leadership and corporate planning teams to align study outcomes with business objectives.
  • Present study results, recommendations, and technical risks to senior management.
  • Support permitting, engineering, and project development activities as required.
  • Maintain strong relationships with contractors, consultants, and internal stakeholders.
  • Other duties as required

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mine Engineering or a related engineering discipline required
  • 8-12 years of mine engineering experience, with significant exposure to underground mine planning and project studies preferred
  • Previous leadership or supervisory experience preferred
  • Strong understanding of underground mining methods (long-hole stoping, cut-and-fill, blockcaving, etc.) required
  • Proficiency in mine planning and design software (Deswik, Vulcan, MineSight, AutoCAD, etc.) required
  • Experience with economic modeling and cost estimation preferred
  • Ability to lead cross-functional technical teams and manage multiple projects simultaneously required
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and report-writing skills required
  • Strong analytical, strategic planning, and problem-solving abilities required
  • Proven ability to influence and collaborate across departments required
