About the RoleThis is the first dedicated design hire for an early-stage neurotechnology company. You won't be inheriting a design system or style guide - you'll be building them from scratch. You'll work directly with the founding team to own the full design surface: from early concept exploration through shipped product. The company is building a genuinely new product category in the cognitive health space that doesn't have an established design language yet. You'll shape what gets built, not just how it looks.
What You'll Do- Own the full product design surface from concept to production
- Build design systems and style guides for a nascent product category
- Stress-test design ideas with real users and iterate based on feedback
- Ship production-ready designs that hold up at scale
- Work closely with founders on product strategy and direction
- Make strong design decisions and push back when something doesn't feel right
What We're Looking For- Required: 2+ years of design experience at an early-stage consumer startup
- Required: Proven track record of shipping full-scale apps from concept to production-not just components, marketing sites, or individual screens
- Required: Experience building and maintaining design systems, not just handing off files
- Required: Product thinker who can shape what gets built, not just execute visual design
- Required: Core team member experience building products people love from the ground up
- Nice to have: Exposure to voice-enabled, AI, or ambient product design
- Nice to have: Experience designing for consumer health, fitness, or wearable products
The ideal candidate is a bit of a mad artist-someone who takes risks, challenges conventions, brings a multidisciplinary perspective, and is deeply curious about design problems.
Compensation & DetailsCompetitive salary, equity package, benefits, and flexible PTO.
