Purpose of the Position:

The Process Engineering Section Supervisor - Forming Engineering provides people leadership and technical ownership for the forming process within the Process Engineering organization. This role leads engineers in support of safe, stable, and capable manufacturing performance while driving continuous improvement across safety, quality, throughput, reliability, and cost. This position combines direct people leadership with clear technical ownership of a critical manufacturing process area and is intended to build future technical leaders within the Engineering organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership for the forming process area, with accountability for technical direction, team effectiveness, and process performance
  • Supervise and develop engineering team members through clear objectives, coaching, performance feedback, and talent development
  • Own day-to-day technical support and longer-term improvement plans for the forming area
  • Lead technical problem solving and root cause analysis to address safety, quality, throughput, reliability, and cost issues within forming
  • Drive improvement in process stability and product performance, with emphasis on thickness and flatness targets
  • Support troubleshooting, variation reduction, process capability improvement, and defect reduction within the forming area
  • Prioritize engineering resources and activities to support production needs, process improvements, maintenance coordination, experiments, and new product or process introductions
  • Drive process discipline through adherence to engineering standards, operating procedures, process control requirements, and change management practices
  • Communicate process performance, technical priorities, and project status to plant leadership and cross-functional stakeholders
  • Build strong working relationships with operations, maintenance, quality, safety, lab, and adjacent engineering teams to develop and implement effective solutions
  • Support process trials, equipment or process changes, and new product introductions related to forming performance
  • Identify and execute opportunities for continuous improvement, cost reduction, capability enhancement, and operational excellence
  • Develop and manage project plans and timelines to achieve objectives without sacrificing safety, process control, quality, or execution discipline
  • Mentor and grow emerging technical talent, helping strengthen the overall capability of the Process Engineering organization
  • Actively support plant safety initiatives and reinforce safe design and safe work practices
  • Ensure the protection of Corning's Intellectual Property (IP)


Work Hours:

  • Standard hours: Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
  • This role participates in a rotating weekend coverage schedule, planned in advance, to maintain visibility and support for a 24/7 manufacturing process.
  • Flexible hours may be required to support plant needs, troubleshooting, project execution, trials, and off-shift manufacturing support as needed


Education & Experience Requirements:

  • BS degree, or equivalent, in an engineering discipline
  • 3+ years of manufacturing and/or engineering experience
  • Experience with process control/process discipline, process capability, or product quality improvement in manufacturing
  • Experience leading technical improvement, capital, or cross-functional manufacturing projects


Preferred:

  • 2+ years of supervisory, leadership, or demonstrated team leadership experience
  • Experience working in a unionized facility

This position does not support immigration sponsorship.

The range for this position is $98,662.00 - $135,660.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
