Job Description:

Forescout System Engineer

GDIT has an opening for a Forescout Systems Engineer supporting the Army National Guard (ARNG) at Falls Church, VA. This role is part of an IT Service Management program that modernizes, expands, and strengthens ARNG's global IT services, including networking, compute, storage, cybersecurity, and application hosting.

The work includes the following:
  • Update the Forescout console with moved/added/changed network subnet definitions for discovery.
  • Troubleshoot various types of issues within the Forescout console (discovery, network reachability, SNMP access to network devices, interfacing with various network devices to collect ARP and MAC information)
  • Update and maintain Forescout console for effective network discovery and monitoring.
  • Troubleshoot issues involving network discovery, reachability, and device interfacing.
  • Analyze network traffic and review IP configurations to resolve Forescout communication issues.
  • Perform console updates, generate reports, and create system diagrams using Microsoft Office and Visio.
  • Respond to and manage tickets through platforms like ServiceNow and adhere to change management procedures.
  • Provide outage notifications, inventory support, and regular network analysis to optimize performance and capacity planning.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and external partners to ensure operational efficiency.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED:

Education/Equivalent Training Required:
  • Technical Skills: Expertise with LAN/WAN (MPLS), Cisco router/switch configuration (IOS & Nexus), DHCP/DNS, and Forescout platforms (eyeSight/eyeControl). Proven ability to troubleshoot technical issues, resolve challenges, and deliver creative process improvements.
  • Experience: Knowledge of federal/DOW contracts, ServiceNow ticketing systems, Network Access Control (NAC) via 802.1x and remote equipment management.
  • Professional Skills: Strong interpersonal, communication, attention to detail, and organizational skills. Team-oriented with a strong customer service orientation.
  • Dependability and adherence to project deadlines/timelines.
  • Experience presenting ideas clearly through briefings or training sessions to leadership at various levels.
  • Ability to quickly adapt to changes in requirements and responsibilities.
  • Bachelor's degree in cybersecurity, information assurance, computer science or a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical certifications or training, or work experience.

Years of relevant experience:
  • 5+ years of overall demonstrated experience in cybersecurity, information assurance or computer science.

Certification Requirements:
  • Must Possess the appropriate baseline certification(s) to achieve a minimum of DoW 8570.01-M Information Assurance Technical (IAT) Level II (i.e., CompTIA Security+ CE) prior to start. Will need to obtain an additional computing environment certification within six-months of hire based on position designation. (i.e., CEH, CCNA-Security, CND, etc.). Candidate may have further discussions with the program's Cyber Security Manager for more details. When 8140 requirements are implemented on program/contract, employees will need to conform to 8140 certification standards.

Security Clearance Level:
  • Active SECRET security clearance required and must be maintained.

Location: Falls Church, VA.
  • Three (3) days of onsite with up to two (2) days telework. Onboarding/transition in period requires on-site support up to 60 days. Work schedules are subject to change on direction by mission requirements from GDIT or USG leadership.


The likely salary range for this position is $119,000 - $161,000. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
