FOREMAN - LOW VOLTAGE ELECTRICAL

The Foreman - Low Voltage Electrical oversees daily low-voltage construction operations, ensuring projects are completed safely, efficiently, and according to specifications. This role provides hands-on technical leadership while supervising installation crews, coordinating project activities, and maintaining productivity, quality, and compliance. The Foreman performs technical low voltage work as needed and supports project success through effective planning, communication, and workforce development. This Foreman role supports construction operations in the City, State area.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Lead and supervise technicians and installers on low-voltage electrical projects.
  • Assign daily tasks, monitor crew productivity, and provide on-site training and support.
  • Interpret project drawings, wiring diagrams, and specifications to guide installation.
  • Coordinate work with general contractors, other trades, inspectors, and project managers.
  • Oversee and perform installation, termination, testing, and troubleshooting of low-voltage systems, including:
    • Structured cabling (Cat5e/6/6A, fiber)
    • Fire alarm systems
    • Security systems (CCTV, access control, intrusion)
    • Audio/visual systems
    • Network equipment
    • Building automation/controls
    • Paging and communication systems
  • Enforce company and OSHA safety policies on the job site.
  • Conduct daily safety meetings, site walk-throughs, and hazard assessments.
  • Ensure work meets NEC, NFPA, BICSI, and local building codes.
  • Ensure all installations meet quality standards and manufacturer requirements.
  • Order materials and manage inventory to support project timelines.
  • Maintain accurate documentation, including as-builts, test results, and daily job logs.
  • Communicate progress, issues, and solutions with project managers and clients.
  • Track labor hours and support scheduling needs.
  • Inspect work for compliance and quality before project milestones.
  • Identify and resolve technical or logistical issues in the field.
  • Mentor and develop installers and apprentices to improve skillsets.
  • Maintain all necessary paperwork and documentation.
  • Support crew by operating equipment and performing labor as needed.
  • Pre-survey job location and ensure utility locates have been performed.
  • Manage and develop effective customer and employee relations.
  • Analyze and resolve work challenges.
  • Secure work site to ensure public safety and safety of equipment and materials.
  • Coach, train, and evaluate employees and guide toward goal achievement.
  • Develop and maintain business relationships.
  • Attend customer progress meetings and pre-bid meetings.
  • Perform miscellaneous duties as assigned.

KEY QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 4-7+ years of low-voltage installation experience.
  • 1-3+ years in a leadership or foreman capacity.
  • Strong knowledge of cabling standards, low-voltage codes, and system integration.
  • Ability to read blueprints, riser diagrams, and technical documents.
  • Proficiency with hand tools, testing equipment, and cable certification tools
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
  • BICSI certification (Technician, Installer II, or equivalent).
  • State Low Voltage/Fire Alarm license (where applicable).
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.
  • Experience with project management tools (Procore, PlanGrid, etc.).
    • DOT Medical Card - If driving company vehicle
    • The physical activity required for this role includes:
      • Travel as needed
      • Exposure to a range of weather conditions, including hot and cold weather
      • Walking on uneven and variable terrain for long periods
      • Sitting for extended periods in an office environment
      • Frequently standing, walking, stooping, climbing, bending and reaching overhead
      • Lift heavy loads, up to 50 lbs.
      • Exposure to loud noise level in the work environment
      • Manual dexterity for computer use, files and office equipment
    • Pass pre-employment drug screen and background check
