In this position...

Ford Racing is looking for an experienced, talented, and highly motivated Machinist to join our Global Ford Racing Powertrain department.

Candidates will have the opportunity to work in a dynamic environment producing high-precision, low-volume prototypes, custom tooling, and race-intent parts.

Responsibilities

What you'll do...
  • Setup, program, and operate variety of CNC and manual machines (e.g. mills, lathes, water jets, etc.)
  • Write, edit, and optimize CNC programs at machine controller or by utilizing CAM software to ensure efficient toolpaths
  • Read and interpret complex engineering drawings, blueprints, and CAD models.
  • Must have deep understanding of GD&T to ensure finished parts meet strict dimensional requirements
  • Design and fabricate custom fixtures optimizing setups and reducing cycle times
  • Perform final inspection using precise measurement equipment (e.g. micrometers, indicators, etc.) to guarantee part quality
  • Continuously evaluate machining processes, tool selection, and speeds/feeds to improve efficiency, tool life, and surface finishes
  • Perform preventative maintenance on machinery and maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.


Qualifications

You'll have...
  • 5+ years of professional machining experience with proved track record of operating both CNC and manual machines
  • Proficiency with manual machine processes including thread cutting, boring, etc.
  • Demonstrated ability to write, edit, and troubleshoot CNC programs independently
  • Strong practical knowledge of GD&T standards and ability to translate requirements into setup and machining strategies
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time and lift 50lbs safely
  • Must be on-site at shop located in Dearborn, MI


Even better, you may have...
  • Expertise using measurement instruments such as calipers, bore gauges, micrometers, etc.
  • Familiarity with CATIA CAD package and Mastercam software
  • Proven experience with designing and building complex fixtures to accelerate part throughput.

This position is a salary grade 7 and ranges from $86,600-$144,900., This position is a salary grade 8 and ranges from $99,100-$166,200.
Final determination of salary grade will be based on candidate's skills and experience, and base salary will be set within the applicable range according to job scope, responsibility and competitive market value.
