Full Job Description
Float Director of Nursing RN

Wisconsin Statewide

This is not a traditional Director of Nursing position. As our Float Director of Nursing, you will have the opportunity to influence clinical operations across Wisconsin, work directly with company and facility leadership, and support skilled nursing teams when your experience matters most.

You will step into our skilled nursing facilities during interim periods, leadership transitions, and other times of operational need. You will quickly assess the needs of the facility, earn the confidence of the team, and provide the leadership, direction, and stability needed to move clinical operations forward.

Your work will strengthen nursing systems, increase employee engagement, develop clinical leaders, and improve the experience of both residents and employees. You will not simply maintain what already exists. You will be trusted to lead, influence, and leave every facility stronger than you found it.

This is a statewide, travel based position unless an assignment is located near your home. Required travel expenses are covered by Champion Care.

What You Will Do
  • Serve as the interim Director of Nursing at Champion Care skilled nursing facilities throughout Wisconsin
  • Provide clinical leadership and operational direction during periods of transition
  • Assess nursing operations and establish immediate and long term priorities
  • Build trust, strengthen communication, and improve employee engagement
  • Support, mentor, and develop Directors of Nursing, Assistant Directors of Nursing, unit managers, and frontline nursing employees
  • Promote accountability, teamwork, and a positive workplace culture
  • Review clinical systems and identify opportunities for improvement
  • Support staffing, infection prevention, quality assurance, and performance improvement initiatives
  • Maintain compliance with Wisconsin and federal skilled nursing regulations
  • Assist facilities with survey preparation, plans of correction, and ongoing regulatory readiness
  • Partner with administrators, regional leaders, and company leadership to achieve clinical and operational goals
  • Promote compassionate, resident centered care throughout every assignment


What We Are Looking For
  • Active Wisconsin Registered Nurse license
  • Previous Director of Nursing or Director of Nursing Services experience
  • Skilled nursing facility, nursing home, or long term care leadership experience
  • Strong knowledge of Wisconsin and federal healthcare regulations
  • Experience with survey readiness, quality improvement, and clinical compliance
  • Proven ability to lead nursing teams through change and transition
  • Strong employee engagement and team development skills
  • Excellent communication, organization, and problem solving abilities
  • Ability to quickly evaluate a facility, establish priorities, and inspire action
  • Flexibility and willingness to travel throughout Wisconsin
