Job Summary

The role of Fleet Manager is to continuously improve and maintain fleet services and equipment for Bird Electric. This position will work in the field and in the office. Duties include ensuring the reliability and maintenance of fleet vehicles and equipment to reduce equipment down time and manage the overall monitoring of the fleet department. The Fleet Manager will oversee and retain a staff providing enhancements to processes and procedures relative to the operations, maintenance, and obtainment of equipment and fleet services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensures proactive maintenance, utilization and disposition of equipment to provide optimal usage .
  • Oversees and retains a staff while providing enhancements to processes and procedures relative to the operations, maintenance, and obtainment of equipment and fleet services.
  • Provides supervision, training development, and performance management of direct reports .
  • Support, encourage and facilitate staff to engage in continuous improvement activities .
  • Provides management of fleet services through the purchase, distribution, maintenance, and disposal of obsolete equipment from the fleet .
  • Identifies and assesses improvement opportunities and champion continuous improvement efforts .
  • Assess and support the change management effect associated with the implementation of process improvements and procedure development, as necessitated
  • Responsible for hiring, discipline, and pay administration of their subordinates

Minimum Qualifications

  • Minimum of seven (7) years relevant experience.
  • Mechanic and equipmenet maintenance background.
  • All applicants must be able to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements (if selected) which may include any/all of the following: criminal/civil background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search, in compliance with any applicable laws and regulations.


Preferred Qualifications

  • BA or BS degree in Purchasing, Construction Management, Business, Technical or related field preferred.
  • Relevant experience may be substituted for a degree.
  • Construction equipment experience preferred.
  • Preferred Skills:
    • Advanced client management skills . Advanced knowledge of equipment and fleet vehicle maintenace and operations, construction equipmenet, construction materials, tools and equipment in power and/or process construction projects . Intermediate knowledge of expediting and logistic operations . Advanced personnel management skills . Intermediate project management skills . Supervisory skills
