Fleet Maintenance Technician – JLL

What this job involves:

As a Fleet Maintenance Technician at JLL, you will serve as a vital member of our automotive production facility team in Kansas City, Kansas, ensuring the reliable operation of service vehicles and industrial equipment that keep our client's production operations running smoothly. Your technical expertise will directly impact facility productivity by maintaining a diverse fleet of powered industrial vehicles including forklifts, manlifts, cranes, tuggers, and burden carriers. This hands-on role combines preventative maintenance with diagnostic troubleshooting and repair, requiring you to work independently while collaborating with operations teams to minimize equipment downtime. Your attention to detail in documenting maintenance activities and commitment to safety standards will be essential in supporting the fast-paced production environment while ensuring compliance with all equipment and operational requirements.

What your day-to-day will look like:

• Diagnose and repair electric, gas, diesel, and LPG powered industrial equipment including forklifts, manlifts, cranes, tuggers, and burden carriers

• Perform routine scheduled preventative maintenance and unscheduled safety inspections on service vehicles and industrial equipment

• Troubleshoot and repair hydraulic and electrical control systems to restore equipment functionality and minimize operational downtime

• Maintain accurate and detailed equipment history records documenting all maintenance and repair work performed

• Utilize electrical and hydraulic schematics to identify and resolve complex equipment issues

• Coordinate with facility operations teams to prioritize maintenance activities and respond to urgent repair needs

• Ensure all work is completed in accordance with safety procedures and manufacturer specifications

Required Qualifications:

• 2+ years of direct experience diagnosing and repairing electric, gas, diesel, and LPG powered forklifts, manlifts, cranes, tuggers, burden carriers, or similar industrial equipment (OR 4+ years experience in a related field emphasizing hydraulic and electrical control systems)

• Familiarity with preventative maintenance programs, procedures, and record keeping with emphasis on accuracy and attention to detail

• Own or have the ability to obtain basic hand tools and supplies required for the position

• Physical ability to stand, squat, and kneel for extended periods and comfortably lift objects weighing up to 50 lbs

• Basic computer literacy with working knowledge of Microsoft Office products

• Proof of citizenship or lawful authorization to work within the United States

• Ability to pass drug test, background check, and validated selection test

Preferred Qualifications:

• Ability to effectively read and understand electrical and hydraulic schematics

• Understanding of CanBus communications with emphasis on accessing and manipulating parameters through handheld programmers or computer software

• Strong background in AC and DC electric motor controllers and components, including encoders, temperature probes, and overloads

• Experience working in automotive manufacturing or high-volume production environments

• Strong teamwork and communication skills for collaborating with facility staff and customers

Location: Kansas City, KS

Work Shift: Monday – Friday, 2:00 PM – 10:30 PM

Salary/Comp: $41.58/hour plus $0.50 shift differential.

Additional benefits include paid health and life insurance, matching 401(k) contributions, and generous vacation, holiday, and sick leave schedule.
