JOB SUMMARY

This position will work with a multi-functional team of engineers to perform and prepare technical certification documents related to the fire properties, fire containment, and wall temperature certification of aircraft interior units.

Verifies the product's design and performance; ensures reliability. Integrates cost, technical, and safety considerations to maintain compliance with customer and regulatory requirements.

SUMMARY OF JOB DUTIES

  1. Create various flam compliance documents to support flammability certification of the unit in accordance with FAA and OEM regulations.
  2. Create various fire containment compliance documents to support aircraft monument waste compartment certification of the unit in accordance with FAA and OEM regulations.
  3. Create various wall temperature compliance documents to support certification of the unit with heat generating equipment in accordance with OEM regulations.
  4. Review designs and sign off on drawings to ensure that all aspects of our designs are (or will be) covered by approved test data; communicate feedback for changes to designers when necessary.
  5. Identify design solutions to solve certification test failure issues to bring the unit into compliance with regulations.
  6. Share project details with team verbally, via PowerPoint, and via e-mail.
  7. Maintains a safe, secure, and legal work environment, adhering to all Company policies and procedures.
  8. Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
  9. Maintains and protects the confidentiality of the Company's information and products.
  10. Performs other duties and projects as assigned or requested.


GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS - Education, Knowledge, and Experience

Education:
  • 4-year degree (BS or BA) in an engineering field is required.


Experience:
  • 3 + years of experience covering fire properties, fire containment, and/or wall temperature certification of aircraft interior units preferred.


Skills:
  • Knowledge of regulatory and OEM requirements and methods of showing compliance.
  • Strong technical writing skills.
  • Ability to review drawings with other company disciplines and provide certification input.
  • Ability to review overall design and provide structures input at PDR & CDR


Preferred Skills/Experience:
  • FAA Designated Engineering Unit Member for Test Witnessing
  • Catia V5 working knowledge
  • WindChill PLM knowledge
