Full Job Description
Position Overview

Citi is seeking a Fixed Income Data Engineering Lead to own the end-to-end data strategy powering two multi-billion dollar Fixed Income trading businesses - ensuring trading, sales, risk, and P&L functions have the data they need to operate and compete at the highest level. Based in Mississauga and serving as site lead for the Fixed Income data team in Canada, this is a senior leadership role shaping how data products, pipelines, and AI-enabled tooling are designed, built, and evolved across global teams.

The Fixed Income data acquisition & warehouse lead is responsible for all Fixed Income trading related analytical and reference data flows both to applications and end users including for AI applications and agents. The data products support two $4 Billion Dollar + businesses and are critical for trading and sales functions to trade in secondary markets, manager risk, P&L and optimize trading strategies. The candidate will manage a majorly Canada-based team with some contributors in Pune as well to cover APAC hours and also act as site lead for the Fixed Income data team in Mississauga.

Responsibilities
  • Define and drive the data warehousing and processing strategy for Fixed Income trading, including the architecture of data APIs and data product design that serves both business and AI applications.
  • Lead multiple teams of software engineers across Canada and Pune, setting engineering standards, coaching technical practices, and guiding the adoption of agentic AI coding tools and automation.
  • Serve as site lead for the Fixed Income data team in Mississauga, acting as the local escalation point and actively shaping team culture and effectiveness.
  • Own a complex, multi-stakeholder project portfolio spanning two major Fixed Income business lines, technology partners, and risk and control functions.
  • Engage and influence senior leaders across business, technology, and risk functions to align data strategy with trading and operational priorities.
  • Evaluate and maintain the health of the existing codebase - conducting technical deep-dives where needed - to ensure systems are scalable, maintainable, and fit for purpose.
  • Accelerate the team's adoption of AI-driven development practices, establishing best practices for agentic tooling and ensuring engineering processes evolve at pace with the industry.

Required Qualifications & Skills
  • 10 or more years of hands-on experience in software or data engineering, with depth in data pipelines, data modeling, and analytical systems.
  • Demonstrated experience managing engineering teams, including global or distributed team structures across multiple time zones.
  • Background in Fixed Income or broader capital markets, with working knowledge of how trading, risk, and P&L data flows support front-office functions.
  • Hands-on technical foundation in Python, SQL, or Java, with the ability to engage directly with codebases and architectural decisions rather than solely managing at a distance.
  • Track record of managing complex, multi-stakeholder programs with senior business and technology partners.
  • Clear and concise communicator, able to engage credibly with senior stakeholders across business and technology functions.
  • Bachelor's degree/University degree or equivalent experience

Beneficial Skills & Qualifications
  • Master's degree in a relevant technical or quantitative discipline.
  • Experience designing or managing data products, including API-based data delivery to both human users and application consumers.
  • Familiarity with agentic AI tools and an established view on how to integrate them responsibly into software development workflows.
  • Experience serving in a site or regional leadership capacity, including ownership of local team operations and culture.

  • Strategic leadership scope across two multi-billion dollar Fixed Income businesses, with direct influence over data architecture and engineering direction.
  • Hybrid working model with 3 days in the office and 2 days working remotely, offering structure and flexibility.
  • Site lead accountability in Mississauga, giving you a platform to shape local team culture and professional development beyond your direct reports.
  • A role at the forefront of AI adoption in financial services, with the mandate to define and implement best practices for agentic development tooling across your teams.
  • Access to global collaboration across technology, trading, and risk functions, connecting you to peers and partners across Citi's international network.
  • Competitive compensation and benefits package reflective of Senior Vice President seniority, including financial wellbeing and long-term value programs.
  • A performance-driven environment that rewards technical depth and leadership in equal measure, with room to grow in scope as the data platform evolves.
