As the guardian of building safety compliance, you'll be responsible for ensuring fire alarm systems, emergency equipment, and safety devices operate flawlessly when needed most. This position combines technical expertise with regulatory knowledge, requiring you to navigate NFPA codes, OSHA standards, and ANSI requirements while maintaining comprehensive documentation that keeps properties audit-ready and compliant. Working independently across multiple facilities, you'll serve as the trusted expert on life safety matters, interfacing with building occupants, property management teams, and regulatory authorities. If you're detail-oriented, safety-focused, and take pride in knowing your work directly saves lives, this role offers a meaningful career where technical excellence and regulatory compliance create safer environments for everyone.

What your day-to-day will look like:

Perform regular inspections and testing of emergency eyewash stations and safety showers per ANSI Z358.1 requirements, verifying proper water flow, temperature, and accessibility while also inspecting fire extinguishers, emergency lighting, and exit signage across assigned facilities.

Execute OSHA-mandated workplace safety inspections including hazard identification, compliance assessments, and documentation of safety status while maintaining inspection schedules and tracking corrective actions to ensure full regulatory compliance.

Identify system deficiencies, equipment failures, and safety hazards during inspections, then coordinate repairs with qualified vendors and contractors while following up to ensure timely resolution and proper system restoration.

Maintain accurate, audit-ready records of all inspections, tests, and maintenance activities using computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS), generating compliance reports, deficiency logs, and regulatory documentation required for Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) submissions.

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum 2-3 years of hands-on experience working with fire alarm systems, fire protection equipment, and life safety devices in commercial or industrial environments.
  • Working knowledge of NFPA codes particularly NFPA 72 (Fire Alarm and Signaling Code), NFPA 25 (Water-Based Fire Protection Systems), and NFPA 10 (Portable Fire Extinguishers) with ability to apply code requirements to field conditions.
  • Understanding of OSHA regulations and ANSI standards related to workplace safety, emergency equipment, and life safety systems with ability to conduct compliant inspections.
  • Valid driver's license in good standing with clean driving record and ability to travel independently to multiple facility locations throughout assigned territory.
  • Ability to pass comprehensive background check and drug screening as required for access to client facilities and sensitive building systems.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • NICET Level I or II certification in Fire Alarm Systems demonstrating formal technical competency and knowledge of fire alarm system design, installation, and inspection standards.
  • Technical training or certification in fire protection systems, fire alarm technology, or related safety disciplines beyond high school diploma.
  • Technical proficiency with fire alarm control panels from major manufacturers including Notifier, Edwards, Simplex, Honeywell, and other industry-standard systems with ability to navigate programming and diagnostics.
  • Experience using inspection software, mobile reporting applications, and digital documentation tools for efficient field data collection and compliance reporting.
