Fire and Gas Life Safety Project Engineer (Owners Representative) - Fremont, CA
KALCON is seeing a Fire & Gas Life Safety Project Engineer will provide technical leadership, project management, operational support, and compliance oversight for campus-wide Fire Alarm, Fire Protection, Fire & Gas Detection, and Life Safety Systems. The role will support sustaining operations, construction projects, tool installations, maintenance activities, inspections, testing programs, and system reliability initiatives in a high-paced semiconductor manufacturing environment.
Minimum Qualifications:- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or equivalent field preferred.
- 2+ years of LSS/FLS and Project Management experience. 2-3 years experience with a facility, construction, or maintenance company, in which working conditions occasionally required the use of PPE due to exposure to environmental/health/safety hazards.
- Experience working in Labs, Semiconductor Facilities, and/or Biopharmaceutical is preferred.
- Proficient use of MS-Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project
- Solid analytical and problem-solving skills
- Skills to identify issues and proactively respond to project issues
- Strong written and oral communication skills to exchange information
- Knowledgeable of departmental processes & policies, and, applicable local, state, and federal laws and regulations.
- Extended standing and moderate to heavy lifting is occasionally required. Requires a good deal of walking and some climbing (stairs, ladders, etc.) on a daily basis.
- Must have a reliable vehicle & a valid driver's license for regular travel to both the Fremont & Livermore campuses (sometimes between the two in one day).
- Skilled in operating a laptop and Microsoft applications. Skilled in offering viable solutions for problem solving.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize multiple tasks & work requests, adapt to needed changes, & comprehend technical language.
- Effectively communicate both in writing and verbally.
- Exercise considerable judgment and initiative, manage time effectively, and interact positively with staff and contractors in order to enhance effectiveness and to promote quality service.
Tasks and Responsibilities:- Life Safety Systems operations and maintenance. Will collaborate with tool installations and operations and maintenance in a high-paced semiconductor plant.
- Managing system capacity, reliability, and uptime as well as all documentation required to safely operate LSS systems.
- Sustaining and construction support for Fire/Evacuation, Early Warning Smoke Detection, Liquid Leak Detection, Tool Annunciation System (TAS), and Hazardous Production Material (HPM) alarm systems and detection equipment
- Act as a liaison to daily tactical operations customer requests.
- PLC programming and troubleshooting for the HPM and TAS system and associated I/O point management, implementing, tracking, and managing continuous improvement projects.
- Role model safety practices always.
- Life Safety System ownership: HPM - Siemens PCS 7 S-400, Fire System - EST, Toxic and Flammable Gas analyzers/sensors - Midas, Vertex, Early Smoke Detection systems - VESDA, Honeywell Gas Detection, and Fire Protection Systems
- Maintenance of record files & reports via LSS One Drive & Sharepoint directory
- LSS presenter for Daily Ops & Weekly Tool Install Tracker meetings
- LSS SIPP submission & coordination for Tool Installation & Facilities/Construction projects
- Coordinating, scheduling, and managing of PM (preventive maintenance)/Testing/Inspections/Repairs with vendors - Weekly/Monthly/Annually of campus-wide (both Fremont & Livermore) fire & gas systems
- FACP & GACP testing & security watch requests
- Critical spares inventory management (devices, parts, smoke/duct detectors, etc.)
- Campus-wide control panel watch & trouble reporting.
- Service calls & emails with LSS onsite vendor
- Document control: Verify code compliance testing reports for accuracy.
- Learn from Fire Life Safety ETS (EHS Tracking System) events from Lam globally, and implement the lessons learned.
- Participate in FLSS related design reviews
- Support the operation, maintenance, testing, and troubleshooting of Fire Protection Systems, including sprinkler, suppression, and fire pump systems.
- Coordinate Fire Alarm System inspections, testing, impairments, and commissioning activities with vendors, contractors, and facility stakeholders.
- Review fire protection and fire alarm designs, submittals, and construction documents to ensure compliance with applicable codes and project requirements.
- Participate in fire protection and fire alarm system upgrades, renovations, and new construction projects, ensuring reliable integration with existing life safety systems.

$90,000-$140,000 USD
