Full Job Description
Position Summary: Responsible for designing and supporting fire alarm and low-voltage system layouts in compliance with local, state, and national codes. Develops detailed shop drawings and CAD designs, selects appropriate equipment, and prepares parts lists to support sales and operations teams. Provides technical expertise across multiple systems, including fire alarm, sprinkler monitoring, security, and life safety solutions. Acts as a key liaison between branch offices and Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs) to ensure code compliance, resolve issues, and facilitate successful project execution.

Job Duties:

  • Provide Design-Build Fire Alarm Shop Drawings for branch needs per local, state, and national codes.
  • Provide technical support for the layout of systems, the selection of proper equipment, and provide these Part Lists to the sales reps and operations dept. Systems may include: Sprinkler Monitoring, Automatic and Manual Fire Alarm Systems, Voice Evacuation, Elevator Recall, CO Detection Systems, Take-Overs, Access Systems, CCTV, and Burglar Systems.
  • Prepare markups in CAD and complete designs in accordance with Bay standards.
  • Act as a liaison between branch offices and local Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs), facilitating communication, resolving compliance issues, and ensuring adherence to applicable codes and regulations.

Requirements:

  • 10+ years experience required.
  • CAD experience required.
  • Working knowledge of NFPA, NEC, UL, Fire, and local codes.
  • NICET FAS-IV certification is required or must be obtained within the first full year in the position.
  • A clear understanding of Bay Alarm installation practices and procedures.
  • Familiarity of Bay Alarm fire alarm product line (DMP, Autocall, and Firelite) as well as other.
  • Ability to read and interpret building blueprints.
  • Good written/ and verbal communication skills.
  • Valid driver's license and a clean driving record required.
  • Final applicant will need to have the ability to pass a pre-employment screening process.


Physical Requirements & Working Conditions:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Frequent use of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, and other office equipment.
  • Ability to speak and hear clearly to communicate effectively in person, over the phone, and in virtual meetings.
  • Occasionally required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, and lift or move up to 10 pounds (e.g., files, office supplies).
  • Visual acuity to read and produce documents, spreadsheets, and emails on screen and in hard copy.
  • Standard office environment with controlled climate and minimal noise levels.
  • Regular working hours, typically Monday through Friday, with occasional extended hours during peak periods or project deadlines.
  • Work may involve interacting with others in person or virtually across departments and locations.
