Fine Wine and Spirits Specialist - MA Territory

Position Summary:

Responsible for growing the MA Fine Wine and Spirits revenue in assigned accounts and achieving customer objectives, Key Performance Indicators, and targets by implementing strategies and tactics while managing customers in a manner that will achieve profitable long-term growth.

Daily/Position Responsibilities (Other duties may be assigned):
  • Drive fine wine portfolio growth across assigned On-Premise accounts by identifying opportunities to expand distribution, increase velocity, and elevate brand presence.
  • Serve as a fine wine subject matter expert and trusted account consultant, partnering with sales representatives, managers, suppliers, and customers to support strategic selling efforts.
  • Lead the sales process for priority fine wine brands, including account targeting, portfolio presentations, brand education, program sell-in, and positioning wines for long-term success within each account.
  • Execute account-level strategies that support fine wine pricing, programming, merchandising standards, promotional activity, and supplier objectives.
  • Partner with field management and sales teams to communicate fine wine priorities, market standards, consumer trends, competitive insights, and best practices that drive consistent execution.
  • Track and report account performance against revenue, distribution, placement, and supplier goals, using market insights to identify gaps and accelerate growth.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key account buyers, managers, and decision-makers to deliver measurable fine wine results and strengthen customer partnerships.
  • Collaborate with assigned sales teams to achieve monthly objectives, including work-withs, staff education, product training, tastings, samples, and fine wine placement goals.
  • Create, coordinate, and attend premium account activations, including winemaker dinners, curated tastings, product launches, staff trainings, and consumer-facing fine wine events.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Five years of industry related sales experience within the distribution, hospitality or supplier community
  • Valid state motor vehicle operator's license and ability to obtain and maintain auto liability insurance by State laws
  • Extensive wine knowledge to include regions/varietals, product/food pairing techniques, basic production, and service
  • Comfortable using MS Office Suite

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Relationship building skills and ability to adapt and assist a variety of customer groups and varying personality types
  • Must have strong negotiation skills; demonstrate an entrepreneurial spirit
  • Ability to create and sell innovative ideas
  • Self-motivated, goal oriented, focused, and assertive individual who needs a little direction or supervision
  • Must be available to work occasional evening hours, including attendance at company, customer, and industry events. This role is expected to support events approximately two to three evenings per week, based on business needs.
  • Ability to participate in business meetings, company initiatives and events upon request
  • Ability to engage in frequent public speaking in front of large groups
  • Proficient at reviewing comparative sales data for analysis

Compensation:

Southern Glazer's offers a competitive compensation package with expected annual total earnings between $120,000 - $140,000/year including incentives. This salary range is an average range for this position. In determining a final offer, the company will evaluate a specific candidate's education, skills and experience and will make an offer appropriately.
