DESCRIPTION OF POSITION:- Manages multiple high-priority finance and accounting projects across the health system. Serves as a key liaison between Finance, Accounting, Revenue Cycle, IT, and Operations to ensure alignment of financial initiatives with organizational goals.
- Plans, executes, and finalizes projects according to strict deadlines and within budget. Coordinates internal resources and third-party vendors to deliver financial system implementations, process improvements, and compliance initiatives. Defines project objectives, monitors financial performance, and ensures quality outcomes throughout the project lifecycle.
- Leads projects, implementations, financial reporting enhancements, and accounting process standardization to improve operational efficiency and financial performance.
SUPERVISION: Reports directly to the Accounting Manager
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:- Leads and manages multiple concurrent accounting and finance-related projects from initiation through completion, ensuring delivery on time and within budget.
- Partners with Finance, Accounting, Revenue Cycle, IT, and operational leaders to define project scope, objectives, and success metrics.
- Oversees financial system implementations and optimizations {ERP, EHR financial modules, Strata/EPM, etc.)
- Supports month-end close optimization, general ledger improvements, and financial reporting standardization.
- Develops project budgets, tracks expenditures, and analyzes financial performance and variances.
- Identifies opportunities to improve revenue cycle performance, including billing, collections, and charge capture processes.
- Monitors key financial and operational KPls (A/R days, denial rates, cash collections, cost performance).
- Ensures compliance with GAAP, CMS regulations, HIPAA, and internal financial policies.
- Proactively manages scope changes, identifies risks, and develops mitigation and contingency plans.
- Develops and maintains project documentation, workflows, and standard operating procedures.
- Leads cross-functional meetings, communicates project expectations, and drives accountability across stakeholders.
- Coordinates vendor relationships and consulting engagements related to financial systems and initiatives.
- Supports integration of acquired entities, including accounting processes and financial systems alignment.
- Provides regular project status reports to executive leadership, including CFO, Controller, and senior management.

- Minimum of five (5) years of experience in healthcare finance, accounting, or project management.
- Experience with hospital or health system operations is strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated experience with financial systems (ERP, EHR, FP&A tools) and reporting platforms.
- Experience leading process improvement or system implementation projects required.
- Strong understanding of healthcare finance, revenue cycle, and regulatory requirements.
- Certification in project management (PMP) and/or CPA preferred. [hfma.org]
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and financial reporting tools; advanced Excel skills preferred.
- Expertise in leadership, team building, communication, analytical thinking, and organizational effectiveness..
