Salary for the candidate will be determined taking into consideration a number of factors including: experience, skills, qualifications, anticipated contribution to role, internal equity, etc. The salary range presented above is based on a 35-hour workweek and would represent a majority of different candidate profiles. About the role
We are looking for a Financial Specialist to join our National Real Estate team!
What you will accomplish with us:
- Master the Month-End Close: Lead the end-to-end month-end accounting cycle for the Real Estate portfolio, including the preparation of journal entries, accruals, and comprehensive balance sheet reconciliations.
- Drive Financial Integrity: Maintain a robust internal control framework and perform detailed variance analysis to ensure the accuracy of financial statements and mitigate reporting risks.
- Strategic CAPEX & Asset Management: Budget, track, and report on capital expenditures (CAPEX) and fixed assets, providing leadership with clear visibility into project spending, depreciation, and variances.
- Lead Process Innovation: Identify and implement initiatives to improve financial systems and accounting workflows, focusing on automation and efficiency.
- Elevate Data Analytics: Maintain and evolve Real Estate project dashboards using Power BI/Power Query to provide actionable insights to leadership.
- Lead financial systems and accounting processes improvement initiatives.
What you will bring:
- Professional accounting designation (CPA).
- Proven experience with IFRS16 is an asset.
- Minimum 5 to 8 years of relevant experience in accounting, IFRS accounting standards and/or finance.
- Knowledge of the P&C insurance industry is an asset.
- Proficiency in Power Query & Power Bi is an asset.
- Fast learner with the agility and adaptability to thrive in a changing environment.
- Discipline, autonomy and professionalism.
- Strong oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to interact effectively with stakeholders at all levels of the organization, including senior management.
- Bilingualism (English and French) is essential - Need to interact on a regular basis with English-speaking colleagues across the country.
- No work experience in Canada required, but must have authorization to work in Canada.
