Full Job Description
In this role, you will promote and provide personal lending services and provide guidance and support to other branch Advisor roles. The incumbent promotes, sells and cross sells all KSCU products and services by providing ongoing advice and exceptional service while developing and maintaining strong member relationships.

Some of your key responsibilities will include:

  • Identifies members' financial needs, explains options, and recommends KSCU services and products which best meet their individual needs. Initiates referrals to Spectrum, Kootenay Insurance Services, First Data, Commercial Services and Wealth Management, and maintains ongoing contact with existing and new members in order to increase share of wallet.


  • Actively promotes and provides personal loan, line of credit and full mortgage services which may include CMHC or Sagen applications by:


  • conducting interviews with members, analyzing their needs and evaluating credit worthiness


  • structuring loans which will meet member needs


  • recommending loan approval or decline above limits to Branch Management


  • promoting and cross-selling creditor insurance, both CUMIS and Bingham products by advising members of credit insurance options and processing appropriate documentation


  • submitting funding instructions to Centralized Lending once loan documentation has been processed through EDM and has been scanned and indexed to Onbase


  • contacting members to discuss student line of credit, personal loan and mortgage renewal options with members and processing renewals


  • reviewing requests for loan alterations and security substitutions and recommends approval or decline to Branch Management


  • assisting members with creditor insurance claims as required


  • reviewing and processing loan applications for mortgage brokers and realtors


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Secondary school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum three (3) years' progressive experience in financial services or retail banking within a regulated environment including a minimum one (1) year demonstrated experience in an advisory or lending capacity involving financial needs assessment, product recommendation, and independent file handling


  • Ability to identify member financial needs and provide integrated deposit and lending solutions, including appropriate referrals
  • Demonstrated ability to build, maintain, and grow client relationships through proactive engagement
  • Demonstrated understanding and practical application of Canadian deposit and registered products
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze credit information and assess member creditworthiness using sound financial judgment
  • Demonstrated understanding and application of consumer lending principles, including personal loans, lines of credit, and residential mortgage products
  • Ability to structure lending solutions within policy guidelines and assigned lending authorities
  • Ability to assess risk, identify exceptions, and make well supported approval or decline recommendations within established limits
  • Demonstrated knowledge of creditor insurance products and related disclosure obligations
  • Ability to interpret and analyze financial statements, income verification documents, and supporting credit documentation
  • Ability to monitor delinquency indicators and take appropriate action in accordance with established procedures
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment when applying overrides within assigned authority
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret and apply policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements accurately
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in financial analysis, transaction processing, and documentation
  • Proficiency using core banking systems, CRM platforms, and electronic document management systems
  • Intermediate computer literacy, including document preparation and basic spreadsheet analysis
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to explain complex financial concepts clearly
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines in a sales and service environment
  • Ability to work independently and exercise judgment within assigned authorities and limits
