Financial Operations Manager (Manufacturing Plant Controller)

Dessert Holdings is looking for a dynamic Financial Operations Manager to support our manufacturing location in Delta, British Columbia. In this high visibility role, you will operate in a "CFO-like" capacity, partnering with Operations leadership to drive strategic initiatives, prioritize business objectives, and achieve financial goals. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Actively participate in daily operational review meetings, providing actionable analysis of the previous day's results
  • Work closely with the Operations leadership team to understand operational decisions and their financial impact
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities related to material, labor, overhead, and other types of manufacturing costs
  • Support the development of an annual operating plan in collaboration with Operations leadership
  • Conduct various financial modeling and analysis projects including product costing, cost savings, special projects, and capital planning
  • Assist in the new product and innovation process by collaborating with Operations, R&D, Marketing, and Sales to develop new product cost estimates
  • Deliver monthly financial presentations to the company's executive leadership team with confidence, effectively communicating results and providing critical insights that drive awareness and decision-making
  • Prepare and analyze weekly KPI metrics, calculating and assessing variances to cost, budgets, and forecasts
  • Manage daily cost accounting requirements and ensure that all deadlines are met
  • Evaluate business controls and processes, working with management to implement or improve controls as needed


QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
  • BS degree in Finance or Accounting
  • At least 5+ years of experience in FP&A or cost accounting, with a background in manufacturing, preferably one with standard costing practices
  • Strong analytical capabilities and a natural curiosity to understand what the numbers truly mean
  • Ability to work in a dynamic, growing organization, with a willingness to learn and adapt to change
  • Understanding of basic cost accounting principles
  • Proficiency in MS Office and financial software applications is a must
  • Intermediate or higher Excel skills working with large data sets
  • A willingness to partner, solve problems, and help create the world's greatest desserts
