  • Analyze graduate student payroll data for expense monitoring and compliance support.
  • Support forecasting and financial planning with historical data and actionable recommendations.

Full Job Description
Financial Analyst - Graduate School, you'll play a key role in supporting graduate education by partnering with academic and administrative leaders to ensure responsible stewardship of financial resources. You'll join a collaborative environment where your analytical expertise helps students, faculty, and departments thrive.

You'll take an active role in shaping financial strategy and decision-making across the Graduate School. This position calls for curiosity, initiative, and a willingness to translate complex financial data into meaningful insights that guide both short- and long-term planning.

What You'll Do:
  • Prepare, analyze, and interpret financial statements to ensure accurate charging of tuition, fees, revenues, and expenditures in alignment with Duke and departmental procedures.
  • Coordinate the preparation and monitoring of operational and capital budgets, including graduate award budgets at both the departmental and divisional levels.
  • Partner with Directors of Graduate Studies Assistants, business managers, and unit leaders to develop, submit, and track graduate award budget requests using Graduate School funding databases.
  • Process and reconcile financial transactions using SAP S/4, the General Ledger, and PeopleSoft, ensuring accuracy and compliance with university policies.
  • Maintain and reconcile databases related to student funding, payroll, fringe benefits, enrollment, and revenues using tools such as SAP S/4, Microsoft Access, and Excel.
  • Analyze graduate student payroll data to monitor expenses, ensure policy compliance, and support enrollment-based reconciliation.
  • Support forecasting and financial planning by providing historical data, trend analyses, and written interpretations with actionable recommendations.
  • Assist with year-end close activities, including preparation and distribution of projection reports on Graduate School operating funds.
  • Contribute to the development of new business proposals through budget preparation and financial projections.
  • Perform other related duties that support the financial operations and strategic goals of the Graduate School.

Required Qualifications:

Anticipated Pay Range: Duke University provides an annual base salary range for this position as USD $62,694.00 to USD $107,633.00.
