Description

Colossal Contracting, LLC is looking for Financial Controller to lead our finance and accounting teams. An ideal candidate will have over 10 years of experience in finance and have a background and high level of understanding of the federal contracting industry. This position will sit remote but will require monthly trips to our Annapolis, MD HQ. This position will report to our SVP of Operations and Finance.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Act as head of the accounting department, maintaining responsibility for the company's financial statements, GL, Reporting, Budgeting, Treasury, Inventory, Procurement, Job Cost, Payroll, AP, AR, tax compliance, and various special analyses.
  • Manage the execution of all aspects of daily, monthly, and annual financial activities, with a focus on continuous improvement.
  • Guides financial decisions by establishing, monitoring, improving, and enforcing policies and procedures.
  • Protects assets and mitigate risk by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing internal controls.
  • Monitors and confirms financial condition by conducting audits, providing information to external auditors.
  • Prepares budgets by establishing schedules; collecting, analyzing, and consolidating financial data; recommending plans.
  • Achieves budget objectives by scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; initiating corrective actions.
  • Provides status of financial condition by collecting, interpreting, and reporting financial data and KPI's.
  • Supports strategic decision making with special reports, collecting, analyzing, responding, and summarizing information and trends.
  • Complies with federal, state, and jurisdictional requirements by studying existing and new legislation; anticipating future legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; filing financial reports; advising management on needed actions.
  • Completes operational requirements by scheduling and assigning employees, following up on work results.
  • Maintains financial staff by assisting with the hiring process of new personnel as well as orienting, and training employees.
  • Protects operations by keeping financial information and plans confidential.


Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in accounting within the federal contracting space.
  • MBA or Masters degree in accounting or finance preferred.
  • Experience managing accounting tasks and staff.
  • Thorough knowledge of all accounting functions including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, journal entries, bank reconciliations, and financial statements.
  • Experience with an accounting system such as .
  • Must be analytical, detail oriented, and organized.
  • Display ability to be an active problem solver and a good communicator.

Preferred Education and Experience
  • Experience working with QuickBooks Enterprise Solutions
  • Experience working with Salesforce
  • Generally Tech Savvy, including proficiency in Excel and WebEx Teams
  • Exposure to government reselling and various billing platforms

Travel
  • None, this position will sit remote with occassional travel to our Annapolis, MD HQ.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
  • This is a full-time position, Monday through Friday 8:30am-5pm.
