POSITION: Financial Analyst IIIDEPARTMENT: Finance LOCATION: North Texas Home Office - Dallas/Fort Worth areaFLSA STATUS: Exempt, Full-time Position SummaryThe Financial Analyst III assists in financial decision-making by collecting, analyzing, investigating, and reporting financial data. Performs complex financial and operational analysis to support short-term and long-range strategic plans, operating budgets, financial reporting, and special projects.
Duties and Responsibilities- Review monthly balance sheet reconciliations and provide guidance to staff regarding account reconciliations as needed.
- Identify and research variances during month-end, quarterly, and year-end reporting.
- Propose corrective or reclassing journal entries based on variances identified on the Income Statement/Statement of Activities (P&L), Balance Sheet/Statement of Financial Position, and Statement of Cash Flows.
- Prepare monthly Actual-to-Budget reports and compose narratives to explain out of the ordinary fluctuations; create tables, charts, and other illustrative material for monthly/quarterly/annual reporting to Academies and the Board.
- Review and analyze financial reporting processes to identify potential improvements.
- Prepare monthly financial statements.
- Review financial information, provide monthly reports, and assess budget-to-actual performance with Headmasters.
- Provide extensive financial guidance and support to Headmasters.
- Evaluate spending at the Academy level and identify and resolve potential issues
- Ensure compliance with budget allocations
- Work with departments to develop Academy forecasts and annual budgets.
- Prepare and present quarterly Board reports.
- Oversee and monitor costs associated with assigned new school expansion projects.
- Work with IT and facilities to coordinate projects at the Academies
- Create and document policies and procedures as needed and ensure compliance.
- Manage projects or assignments, including planning, assigning, monitoring, reviewing progress and accuracy of work, evaluating results, etc.
- Develop financial models to evaluate business opportunities and support decision-making.
- Identify and communicate any internal control issues
- Independently research complex business issues, develop subject-matter expertise, and recommend solutions.
- Assist with the annual audit and the Single Audit (including SEFA reporting).
- Assist with preparing the Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR).
- Other duties as needed.
Qualifications, Competencies, and Strengths- Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or related field at minimum, MBA preferred.
- Seven plus years of finance/accounting work experience.
- Experience in education or non-profit preferred
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Experience with Workday, Sage Intacct, or similar software highly preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years' experience with GAAP, and FASB; TEA, and DOE reporting requirements preferred.
- General ledger and posting journal entries experience.
- Experience in Adaptive Reporting systems or similar.

Additional RequirementsType of fingerprint clearance: Must possess or obtain a valid Texas Department of Public Safety fingerprinting.
Physical functions: Requires but is not limited to standing, sitting, repetitious hand and body movements, bending, squatting, and reaching. It may be required to move or position equipment up to 15 pounds approximately.
