About this opportunity:

Reporting to the Team Lead, External Reporting, the Financial Analyst will support the preparation of Cenovus' external disclosure documents, including quarterly and annual financial statements, MD&A, and supplemental disclosures. You will help ensure external reporting is accurate, timely, and compliant with IFRS, continuous disclosure requirements, and SOX controls. This role partners with stakeholders across Finance and the broader organization to deliver high-quality financial reporting and analysis. You will contribute to process improvement initiatives that enhance reporting efficiency, controls, and overall effectiveness. Success in this role requires strong technical accounting knowledge, attention to detail, collaboration, and a commitment to continuous learning. We are hiring multiple roles and welcome applications from candidates with a range of skills and experience levels.

We are filling multiple Financial Analyst and Senior Financial Analyst opportunities that require varying levels of professional experience and expertise.

What you'll do:
  • Assist in the preparation and review of quarterly and annual external reporting documents, including financial statements, MD&A, and supplemental disclosures.
  • Support compliance with IFRS, continuous disclosure requirements, and SOX controls to ensure accurate and timely reporting.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders across Finance, Investor Relations, Legal, and other business areas to gather, validate, and analyze financial information.
  • Perform financial analysis and prepare supporting documentation, working papers, and disclosures for external reporting purposes.
  • Monitor emerging accounting standards and regulatory developments and assess their impact on reporting requirements.
  • Identify and support process improvement opportunities that enhance reporting quality, efficiency, and internal controls.


Who you are:

Our ideal candidate will have the following minimum requirements:
  • Legally authorized to work in Canada.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant accounting or financial reporting experience.
  • University degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline.
  • Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation.
  • Strong knowledge of IFRS and continuous disclosure requirements.
  • Experience with Wdesk and SAP, or other ERP systems, is considered an asset.
