Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking a Financial Analyst/ Principal Financial Analyst to support the Division Rates Manager in the Weapons Systems Division.  This high impact role will collaborate work closely with Sector, Division, and Business Unit business management teams. The preferred locations are onsite in McLean, VA, or at major Business Unit locations (Allegany Ballistics Laboratory WV, Elkton MD, or Plymouth MN)

This is a new position supporting a dynamic rates environment where we are streamlining our CAS disclosed practices, building our visibility and management processes, and preparing for a major accounting system conversion (Costpoint to SAP). 

Position responsibilities and duties include:

  • Rate Segment budget coordination and cost monitoring; analyzing YTD rate variances; reviewing forecasted positions
  • Effectively communicating budget performance and risks/opportunities with stakeholders
  • Building processes and visibility tools to be leveraged by the Weapon Systems Division
  • Creating financial bridging data between Cognos financial planning (NGFP) and budgeting (NGRB) tools to ensure reasonable alignment.
  • Providing support on various business management needs, including affordability and scenario analysis, charging guidance, and ad hoc questions as needed
  • Participating in Forward Pricing Rate Proposal (FPRP) development and packaging
  • Defending FPRP estimates through DCAA/DCMA audits by ensuring reasonable and fully supportable Basis of Estimates (BOEs)
  • Ensuring compliance with applicable NGDS Sector PrOP (Principles and Operating Practices), CAS, and FAR.  Incorporation and communication of the relevant segment disclosure statement changes during planning cycles.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite, specifically strong Excel skills along with familiarity with Word and PowerPoint
  • Understanding of government rates lifecycles and dependencies
  • Proficiency in an accounting system (SAP/S4 or Costpoint), as well as IBM Cognos Analytics/Reporting platforms
  • Possess an analytical nature; makes recommendations based on acquired data and cumulative experience
  • Ability to convey information clearly, and adapt communication style for different audiences, including peers, senior management, and sector leadership
  • Must be able to work onsite

Financial Analyst Level 2:

  • Must have a high school diploma or GED with a minimum of 7 years of related experience preparing financial data and performing analysis.
  • Will also consider:  
    • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business Administration, Accounting, or a related field with 3 years of professional experience
    • Master’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, Accounting, or a related field with 0 years of related professional experience

Principal Financial Analyst Level 3:

  • Must have a high school diploma or GED with a minimum of 9 years of related experience preparing financial data and performing analysis.
  • Will also consider:  
    • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business Administration, Accounting, or a related field with 5 years of professional experience
    • Master’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, Accounting, or a related field with 3 years of related professional experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience in the aerospace and defense industry
  • Self-motivated, yet functions well in a team environment
  • Detail and results oriented; ability to deliver accurate results under time sensitive conditions
  • Excellent organizational and prioritization skills
  • Familiarity with Cost Accounting Standards (CAS) and Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR)

    Primary Level Salary Range: $65,500.00 - $113,800.00

    Secondary Level Salary Range: $89,900.00 - $141,200.00

    The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

    Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
