The opportunityOur commodities markets team is a national competency that sits within our Financial Accounting Advisory Services (FAAS) practice and is growing exponentially. Working across all industries, you'll develop your career by communicating creative, strategic goals both internally and externally. Your key responsibilities The nature of this role means no two projects will be the same. That means you'll need to think on your feet and challenge existing practices to develop answers to complex issues. You'll also be collaborating with audit and advisory colleagues across multiple service lines, so we'll look to you to build relationships and identify opportunities for our clients to benefit from our knowledge in other areas. Regular travel will be required as you will be meeting with key clients, some of those being the most respected in their fields.
Skills and attributes for success - Consulting with clients on complex commodities risk, asset and derivative valuations
- Collaborating with partners, senior managers and clients to influence strategy around commodity markets, balancing risk and client expectations
- Ensuring our Engagement team thoroughly understands our clients' unique needs, ambitions and expectations
- Building relationships with colleagues across multiple service lines to provide seamless integrated service
- Managing performance and identifying opportunities to improve our products and processes
To qualify for the role you must have - A bachelor's degree in economics, mathematics, finance, information technology, accounting or related field and 5-8 years of work experience
- US CPA licensure in your work state
- Direct experience with commodity procurement, trading or valuation processes from an operational perspective, with a focus on middle- and back-office operations
- Experience with accounting for derivative and hedging activities
- Strong working knowledge of commodity markets, instruments, and regulatory pronouncements
- A basic understanding of financial modeling for commodity transactions
- A proven record of excellence when managing, mentoring and improving a team of high-performing colleagues
- The confidence to provide expertise in deal structuring, valuation, and market drivers in the energy markets
- The ability and willingness to travel and work in excess of standard hours when necessary
- Access to reliable transportation to/from the EY office and client sites. A driver's license is strongly recommended as ride share and public transportation options may not be available in all locations
Ideally, you'll also have - A master's degree in accounting, economics, finance, mathematics or related discipline
- Internal or External Audit experience in a large firm

- We offer a comprehensive compensation and benefits package where you'll be rewarded based on your performance and recognized for the value you bring to the business. The base salary range for this job in all geographic locations in the US is $112,700 to $206,500. The base salary range for New York City Metro Area, Washington State and California (excluding Sacramento) is $135,200 to $234,800. Individual salaries within those ranges are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge, skills and geography. In addition, our Total Rewards package includes medical and dental coverage, pension and 401(k) plans, and a wide range of paid time off options.
