The Opportunity
The Financial Accountant is responsible for executing day-to-day accounting activities across multiple entities and supporting the Senior Accountant and Controller in delivering accurate and timely financial reporting.
This role, serves as the primary right-hand to the Senior Accountant and Controller, owning key components of the month-end close, preparing financial deliverables, and ensuring high-quality accounting records. The Financial Accountant also provides guidance to junior team members and supports process consistency, efficiency, and continuous improvement.
Responsibilities
Financial Reporting & Accounting
- Prepare monthly financial statements across multiple entities, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
- Prepare and post journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting working papers.
- Own day-to-day accounting activities and contribute to the month-end and year-end close.
- Maintain accurate accounting records and ensure data integrity within Sage 300 and other systems.
- Serve as a back-up for the AP function.
Budgeting & Reporting
- Assist with regular budget and net worth updates.
- Assist in ensuring consistency and accuracy of reporting deliverables.
Investments Accounting
- Reconcile investment statements to the general ledger and prepare related journal entries.
- Maintain investment continuity schedules and supporting documentation.
- Ensure investment records are complete, organized, and up to date.
Ad Hoc
- Support the Senior Accountant and Controller on special projects, process improvements, and system initiatives (e.g., Sage updates, reporting enhancements).
- Assist with audit and tax support, including preparation of required documentation.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or diploma, preferably in accounting.
- Working on accounting designation or recently designated accountant with 4-5 years of relevant experience.
- Intermediate to advanced skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Experience with Sage 300 and Beanworks (or other AP automation software) is an asset.
- Excellent written and verbal communication.
- Attention to detail and strong analytical skills.
- Excellent organizational, time management, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
- Ability to work and communicate effectively with other team members
- Ability to work in a dynamic, collaborative, fast-paced environment and multi-task to manage changing priorities and deadlines.

The successful candidate will join a collaborative, high-performing team passionate about our mission and the communities we serve. This role offers a starting base salary of $75,000 - $90,000, commensurate with experience, plus a competitive bonus and comprehensive benefits package.
