In a large clinic practice, the Finance Manager is a critical link between clinical operations and financial sustainability, ensuring the organization can deliver high-quality care while maintaining profitability and compliance. This role requires both technical financial expertise and an understanding of healthcare delivery systems.
How you'll contribute
A Finance Manager who excels in this role:
- Oversees the day-to-day financial operations, ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations and supporting strategic financial planning to maintain the clinic's financial health and long-term sustainability.
- Oversees accounting, billing, accounts receivable, and reimbursement processes, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting.
- Develops and manages budgets, forecasts revenue and expenses, and monitors performance against financial goals.
- Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local financial laws, healthcare regulations, and internal control standards.
- Prepares statistical data, activity reports, and trend analyses to support decision-making and identifies opportunities to reduce costs and enhance revenue.
- Oversees the revenue cycle, manages insurance contracts, negotiates contract terms, and ensures efficient patient billing and collections.
- Collaborates with clinic leadership to align financial strategies with operational and clinical objectives.
- Supervises finance staff within a dyad organizational structure, delegates responsibilities, and ensures departmental goals are achieved within approved budgets.
- Partners with clinical and administrative teams to evaluate business performance, allocate resources, and implement cost-effective financial strategies.
- Usually reports to a Director or CFO, with authority to manage personnel and make financial decisions within the clinic’s scope
What we’re looking for
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or a related field is required.
Skills & Experience:
- Typically, 5+ years in healthcare or finance, with 1–3 years in supervisory roles preferred.
- Strong analytical, budgeting, and forecasting abilities; proficiency in financial software and reporting tools; knowledge of healthcare reimbursement systems and regulations.
- Leadership, communication, problem-solving, and attention to detail.
