Finance ManagerJob DescriptionThe Finance Manager will serve as the primary accounting and finance contact for the United States operations of an international manufacturing company headquartered in Italy. This role focuses on managing U.S. financial statements and reporting so that results seamlessly integrate with the parent company's consolidated financials. The position supports a growing automotive-focused operation in Michigan, with products manufactured in Mexico under the Maquiladora/Shelter company model. The Finance Manager will oversee monthly and annual financial reporting, strengthen internal controls, support and help lead SAP implementation for finance and accounting processes, and ultimately take full ownership of the U.S. accounting function currently supported by external consultants.
Responsibilities- Act as the main accounting and finance contact for the U.S. entity, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting to the parent company.
- Oversee daily accounting transactions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, treasury activities, payroll, and company asset accounting.
- Supervise a team composed of internal and external resources, monitoring the daily performance of the accounting function.
- Prepare monthly financial closing and group reporting packages in accordance with company deadlines and standards.
- Prepare annual financial statements and group reporting, ensuring full compliance with U.S. GAAP and the parent company's accounting principles.
- Manage and properly report financials that include Maquiladora costs and ensure they are accurately reflected within the U.S. entity's accounts.
- Develop, implement, and maintain internal controls, guidelines, and procedures to safeguard company assets and ensure accurate accounting transactions.
- Implement and align accounting policies, practices, and procedures with those of the parent company.
- Support and help lead the implementation, configuration, and ongoing development of SAP modules for accounting, reporting, and financial control.
- Guide financial decisions by applying company policies and procedures and providing clear financial analysis and recommendations.
- Prepare budgets and forecasts, supporting both short- and long-term operational strategies for the U.S. operations.
- Provide all required accounting and financial reports, documentation, and analyses requested by the parent company and Group Finance department.
- Participate in accounting audits and meetings with external consultants, including the transition of responsibilities from external advisors to internal processes.
- Contribute to the operation set-up under the Maquiladora/Shelter company model, ensuring appropriate financial structure and reporting.
- Continuously improve financial processes, reporting quality, and internal controls as the business expands in the U.S. market.
Essential Skills- Six or more years of experience in high-level accounting or finance management roles such as accountant, controller, or auditor.
- Proven experience in the manufacturing industry, preferably within the automotive sector.
- Experience working with organizations that manufacture products in Mexico, ideally under Maquiladora or similar cross-border manufacturing models.
- Strong knowledge of financial statement preparation, including monthly closes and annual financial statements.
- Solid understanding of U.S. GAAP and group accounting principles.
- Hands-on experience with general ledger accounting, journal entries, reconciliations, and month-end close processes.
- Demonstrated ability in cost accounting within a manufacturing environment.
- Experience in developing and maintaining internal controls, accounting policies, and procedures.
- Ability to prepare budgets, forecasts, and management reports to support strategic decision-making.
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret and communicate financial data clearly.
- Effective communication skills to collaborate with internal stakeholders and international colleagues.
- Ability to supervise and coordinate internal and external accounting resources.
Additional Skills & Qualifications- Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in business, accounting, finance, or a related field.
- SAP experience, particularly with finance and controlling modules, is a major plus.
- Experience with process development and improvement in accounting and financial reporting.
- Experience in audit or working with external auditors and consultants.
- Experience with treasury activities and asset management.
- Familiarity with group reporting requirements in an international corporate environment.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a growing operation.
- Comfort working within an international, multi-entity structure and coordinating with overseas finance teams.
Work EnvironmentOnsite 5 days a week to start then potentially 3 days a week once fully integrated. The company is an international organization expanding its footprint in the United States, providing the opportunity to help build processes and structures from the ground up. The environment is collaborative and growth-oriented, with a strong focus on implementing SAP and establishing robust financial operations. Initial onboarding includes 1-2 weeks of paid training in Italy, offering direct exposure to the parent company's finance and accounting practices and the broader group culture

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $115000.00 - $130000.00/yr.
