BAIN CAPITAL ASSET MANAGEMENTThe Bain Capital Insurance investment team is comprised of 30 U.S. team members and 4 U.K. team members, who spend their time reviewing investment opportunities, conducting due diligence, preparing investment materials and monitoring existing portfolio investments. In addition, we are continuing to build out Bain Capital Asset Management (BCAM), a purpose-built asset management group with an investment mandate centered around providing insurance-focused asset management capabilities to both internal and external partners. BCAM focuses on managing assets backing liabilities across life insurance, annuities, P&C, and Long-Term Care products, with a focus on both capital preservation and generating strong loss-adjusted returns. Additionally, BCAM will leverage the Bain Capital platform and captive asset origination platforms to focus on investments across a wide spectrum of asset classes, from traditional fixed income to esoterics and alternatives.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIESThis role will serve as the primary day-to-day finance lead for BCAM-Insurance, the dedicated investment adviser to Bain Capital's insurance company and insurance-related clients. While prior experience in the insurance industry would be beneficial, it is not required. The successful candidate will, however, have relevant finance experience within the asset management industry.
Key responsibilities will include some or all the following:
- Develop a comprehensive understanding of the BCAM-Insurance business and its full range of asset classes across fund and IMA relationships, including private investments, IDFs, insurance sidecars, structured assets, fund-of-funds and derivatives
- Lead, develop, and manage the BCAM-Insurance finance function while coordinating seamlessly with internal Bain Capital stakeholders and external fund administrators
- Manage workstreams with various groups within Bain Capital including compliance, legal, tax, investment operations, GP group.
- Own the build-out of scalable, efficient finance infrastructure to support BCAM Insurance's growth trajectory
- Oversee and/or execute NAV reviews, investor capital reporting, consolidations, bespoke reporting requests, US GAAP valuations, Valuation Committee materials, expense allocations and cash management
- Drive the year-end audit process, serving as the primary liaison with external auditors to ensure accuracy and timeliness
- Partner closely with deal teams and portfolio management to provide real-time financial insight and support for ongoing investment monitoring
- Navigate and execute complex, high-priority ad-hoc requests with speed and precision
GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS- 12+ years of experience at an Investment Advisor and/or public accounting firm in a demanding and rigorous environment
- Proven ability to manage competing priorities and deliver under tight deadlines without sacrificing quality
- Highly self-motivated with a strong sense of ownership and the ability to operate independently
- Ability to operate independently and manage internal and external stakeholders
- Sharp analytical and problem-solving skills, with a track record of working through ambiguity
- Polished interpersonal skills and the confidence to engage effectively with external parties and senior leadership alike
- Comfort interpreting complex legal and fund documentation
- Collaborative team player who leads with follow-through and accountability
- Intellectually curious and adaptable, with the ability to quickly develop fluency in diverse investment structures - from fund-of-funds and private credit to derivatives and structured products
- Advanced proficiency in Excel
- Technology acumen: demonstrated aptitude for learning and effectively utilizing accounting and reporting systems
- Strong working knowledge of AI tools, with a genuine enthusiasm for leveraging emerging technology to drive efficiency
EDUCATION- Four-year college degree with a strong academic background.
- Major in accounting, finance or related degree required.
- Public accounting experience preferred.
- CPA, CFA or equivalent qualification.
Compensation:Expected Annual Base Salary $160,000 - 190,000
Actual base salary will be determined by a wide range of factors including but not limited to role, function, level, experience, qualifications and geographic location. In addition to a competitive base salary, this position may be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus based upon factors such as individual impact, team and firm performance.
