Full Job Description
This position develops and conducts technical training programs to ensure the safe and effective performance of Field Training. Training includes both classroom and on-the-job training and would incorporate both conceptual and hands-on instructional methods. Responsibilities would also include participation in testing and evaluation of new tools, materials, and equipment, the ongoing revision and maintenance of standards and procedures, conducting of quality assurance audits and supervision evaluation and certification of field employees.
Trainer will be responsible for Overhead and Underground training which includes training at Area work Centers as part of Agile training.

Essential Functions:
  • Works with field personnel and supervisors to analyze job tasks and current field performance to determine training needs and program content.
  • Effectively implements training programs and field quality audit programs.
  • Supervises, directs and instructs trainees during classroom, hands-on and on-the-job training assignments.
  • Evaluates performance to ensure all trainees are sufficiently trained to perform their assigned duties by reviewing and evaluating field and methods in refresher training.
  • Ensures that work is performed in accordance with appropriate Company standards and work methods including monitoring for a high quality of workmanship. Provides employee feedback and seeks to enhance performance and safety.
  • Directs efforts to achieve top quartile excellence regarding safe work practices and safety performance.
  • Promotes teamwork among and between all members of the electric distribution and transmission organizations and other internal groups.
  • New equipment and "Moment of Need" training at AWC's as needed.
  • Classroom and hands-on-training in the Training Yard to include:
    • Apprentice TMP Schools: pole climbing, pulling and setting poles, aerial device operation, secondary service work, high voltage rubber gloving, running primary and secondary wire, transformer connections, insulate/isolate practices, hoisting and rigging, distribution equipment (capacitors, reclosers etc.), troubleshooting, hot-line tools, pole-shifts etc.
      • URD(Direct Buried): secondary voltage splicing/terminating cable, print reading, trenching shoring, fault locating, etc.
  • Yearly refresher training for qualified line-workers.


Technical Knowledge/Skill/Education/Licenses/Certifications:

Technical Knowledge/Skill:
  • Requires knowledge of utility transmission and distribution system design, operations, maintenance, and construction principles and practices, safety standards and business processes.
  • Excellent communication skills, ability to present theory and concepts, as well as hands-on technical instruction with clarity, confidence, and enthusiasm.
  • Requires leadership, coaching abilities and schedule management skills.
  • Ability to use PC desktop applications (e.g., Microsoft Word & Excel).
  • Working knowledge of labor contracts.

Education:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Business Administration or related discipline or equivalent experience.

Experience:
  • Minimum of eight (8) years of direct craft experience in Transmission, Distribution and/or Field Service design and/or installation, servicing customers and supervising employees.
  • Training or instructional experience preferred.

Licenses & Certifications:
  • Driver's License, CDL A Preferred

Working Conditions:
  • Must be available to work emergency restoration assignment as required.
  • Must be available to travel between MA/CT/NH as necessary.

$133,290.00-$148,100.00
