Full Job Description
Overview:
The Field Supervisor - Roofer/HVAC is responsible for assessing and documentingbuilding systems across District sites. This role requires strong constructionknowledge, hands-on field experience, and the ability to evaluate the conditionand remaining service life (RSL) of roofing and HVAC systems. The idealcandidate is detail-oriented, technically skilled, and capable of providingleadership and guidance in field survey activities.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Data Collection: Identify and document building component data for installed roofing and HVAC systems at District sites.
  • Technology Use: Input collected data using digital tools such as tablets, laptops, and smartphones.
  • System Identification: Utilize construction expertise to identify and locate building systems that may be concealed behind walls, ceilings, or floors.
  • Condition Assessment: Evaluate overall condition and remaining service life (RSL) of building components, applying LAUSD FCA Unit standards and leadership direction.
  • Collaboration: Work collaboratively with other trade surveyors to obtain measurements, quantities, and standard boilerplate data as needed.
  • Ad Hoc Surveys: Conduct and support special surveys or inspections of District buildings as required.
  • Leadership: Supervise and mentor field staff or survey participants when assigned; act as a resource for technical questions and field operations.


Minimum Qualifications:

Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture or Construction Management.
  • Candidates without a degree must have at least 10 years of relevant professional experience.
  • Four years of experience may be substituted for the degree requirement on a year-for-year basis.

Experience:
  • Minimum 6 years of full-time paid professional experience in on-site construction.
  • Experience in roofing or HVAC field work, condition assessment, or facility inspection preferred.


Preferred Skills:
  • Knowledge of building envelope systems, HVAC infrastructure, and construction materials.
  • Familiarity with facility condition assessment (FCA) methodologies.
  • Strong analytical and documentation skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in the field.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and field data collection applications.
