About the Role:
RWC is seeking a Field Operations Superintendent to support site supervisors across multiple active projects. This role removes field roadblocks, coordinates manpower and equipment, reinforces site processes, and helps field teams execute work safely, productively, and to RWC quality standards.
The Field Superintendent reports directly to the Construction Manager and works closely with Project Managers, Safety, Training and Development, Site Supervisors, Foremen, and field crews.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support and oversee Supervisors across multiple projects.
- Attend project scope and budget handover meetings
- Track and understand labor market trends to provide labour cost input for estimating and project management
- Remove or escalate roadblocks affecting manpower, equipment, productivity, safety, quality, schedule, or site coordination.
- Source, allocate, and distribute manpower and equipment based on project priorities, crew skills, and schedule demands.
- Monitor field productivity and quality across job sites; coach Supervisors on corrective actions when performance is off plan.
- Ensure site processes, daily/weekly planning, reporting expectations, safety requirements, and quality standards are followed consistently.
- Resolve internal and external conflicts with professionalism, including issues involving crews, Project Managers, general contractors, suppliers, and site contacts.
- Assess and track Supervisor, Foreman, and trade craft skills; identify development needs and support training plans.
- Work closely with Safety and Training and Development to strengthen field leadership, safe work practices, and skill growth.
- Report field risks, manpower gaps, productivity concerns, quality issues, safety trends, and resource needs to the Construction Manager.
Qualifications:
- 10+ years of experience in commercial construction, including leadership experience as a Site Supervisor, Superintendent, or similar field leadership role.
- Strong understanding of construction sequencing, manpower planning, productivity, safety, quality control, and site coordination.
- Proven ability to lead and support multiple job sites while effectively managing competing priorities.
- Strong leadership, communication, coaching, and conflict resolution skills, with the ability to hold teams accountable.
- Demonstrated ability to mentor and develop Site Supervisors, Foremen, Lead Hands, and field personnel.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to proactively identify and remove operational roadblocks.
- Commitment to maintaining high standards of safety, quality, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and construction management software.
- Construction Management education, or related leadership training considered an asset.
