Field Services Engineer

Service Locations: Health Systems within Houston metro area to Galveston, TX, and any other local regions. Any candidates wanting to be considered must live within Houston, TX or willing to relocate.

Reports to: Manager, Field Services

Note: The selected candidate must have a valid driver license with an acceptable driving record, be able to meet company's insurance coverage requirements, and have their own vehicle in acceptable working condition. Employment is contingent upon successfully clearing a pre-employment drug screening as part of the onboarding process.

About the Role

As a Field Service Engineer (FSE) at Omnicell, you'll be a trusted technical expert supporting pharmacy and supply automation systems that directly impact patient care. You'll work independently in hospital environments to troubleshoot, repair, and maintain advanced electro-mechanical and software-integrated solutions. This role offers autonomy, hands-on problem-solving, and the opportunity to collaborate with clinical leaders in nursing and pharmacy.

As a Field Service Engineer, your work directly supports Omnicell's mission to improve medication and supply management in healthcare settings. Success in this role means ensuring high system uptime, rapid issue resolution, and exceptional customer satisfaction-all of which contribute to operational efficiency and patient safety. Your contributions help Omnicell deliver on its promise of safer, smarter medication and supply management. By ensuring systems are functioning optimally, you reduce downtime, improve clinical workflows, and reinforce Omnicell's reputation for reliability and innovation in healthcare technology.

You will:
  • Ensure system reliability by performing timely troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, and emergency repairs on Omnicell's automation solutions.
  • Drive customer trust and satisfaction by building strong relationships with nursing and pharmacy leadership, serving as a knowledgeable and responsive technical partner.
  • Support product innovation by analyzing complex service issues and escalating bugs or design concerns to engineering and hardware teams.
  • Enhance product performance through actionable field feedback that informs continuous improvement.
  • Represent Field Services in cross-functional initiatives and field projects that shape the future of healthcare automation.
  • Elevate team capability by mentoring junior technicians and sharing best practices.
  • Maintain operational excellence through accurate documentation, inventory management, and adherence to service level agreements.
  • Empower end users by delivering basic product training and ensuring confidence in system usage.


Who You Are (We are hiring for a Field Services Engineer I OR Field Services Engineer II)
  • FSE Level 1 Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree; or Associates Degree or Trade School Certification or Military Training OR Completion of an approved Apprenticeship/Bridge Program or external skilled trades apprenticeship OR
  • 2+ years' experience troubleshooting and repairing electromechanical equipment/machinery
  • FSE II Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's + 1-year relevant experience OR
  • Associate's/Trade/Military Training + 2 years relevant experience OR
  • 4+ years equivalent electromechanical experience


Preferred Qualifications
  • Hands on repairs, troubleshooting, root cause analysis experience working on pneumatic or hydraulic complex machinery that may include Industrial manufacturing equipment/machinery, Aircraft systems, Robotic Arms, or anything similar.
  • Experience working in a high volume environment that requires 24/7 on call support
  • Passion for trade based work
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering/Technology or related discipline
  • Experience working in a hospital environment

Work Conditions:
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs. to approximately 5 ft. high
  • Available 24 hours a day, Monday through Friday and for weekend on-call rotations
  • Frequent local travel in primary area
  • Backup support in adjacent areas as needed
  • Provide work area at home and space for trunk stock inventory
