Full Job Description
Ziegler CAT has an opening for a full-time, experienced Industrial Engine Field Service Technician to provide scheduled maintenance on engine-powered electric power generation equipment in the field to support customers surrounding our Shakopee branch. A company truck is provided

The pay range for this position is $38.00 to $51.00

Starting wage is dependent on skills, experience, education and location. Pay range may vary by 10% depending upon the applicant's location. Along with competitive pay, full time positions are benefits eligible which includes:

Responsibilities:
  • Dispatched to perform scheduled maintenance on electric power generation equipment including gas and diesel engines, generators, transfer switches and switchgear and fire pump engines at the customer's location
  • Uses a high degree of independent judgment to repair a variety of complex equipment and tools, which involve mechanical, hydraulic, gas, diesel, and electrical systems
  • Work safely at all times, following company policies, procedures and standards
  • Responds to customer needs in a positive, supportive, and timely manner to ensure maximum value for work performed
  • Work collaboratively and assist other technicians as needed regarding troubleshooting repairs
  • Document work orders in a complete and timely manner to ensure a high level of customer satisfaction; identify and communicate the need for parts for inventory
  • Willing to respond to after hour emergency calls as directed by supervisor


Qualifications:
  • 2-year technical college degree in diesel technology or related field; or high school diploma/GED and 2 years of comparable shop mechanic experience
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in mechanical, electrical & diesel maintenance/repair, some field experience preferred
  • Knowledge of electricity and electronics, engine diagnostics, failure analysis
  • Previous experience working on Caterpillar engines a plus but not required
  • Possesses the ability to diagnose all equipment without supervision; is also able to read, follow, understand, and communicate schematics.
  • Ability to write and communicate effectively, interact with supervisors, customers and team members
  • Basic computer skills to document work orders and utilize online diagnostic systems
  • Own mechanic tool set
  • Ability to maintain a safe and clean work environment including service truck
  • Willing and able to respond to after-hour emergency calls as directed by the supervisor
  • Must have and maintain a clean driving record
  • Class A CDL or willingness to obtain one within a defined period
  • Obtain a DOT medical certification card
  • Pass a DOT pre-employment drug screen & physical due to the role being deemed safety sensitive position
  • Able to operate equipment safely

  • Working Conditions may be indoor and/or outdoor. Noise level may be loud at times.
