Position Overview:
At Komatsu West, we are seeking an experienced Field Service Supervisor West to lead and inspire a team of dedicated field service technicians throughout northern Nevada and neighboring regions. This position plays a pivotal role within our Product Support organization, where you will oversee the maintenance and repair of heavy equipment used in demanding industries including mining, construction, aggregates, and industrial sectors.

In this leadership capacity, you will guide service operations to consistently meet the highest standards of safety, quality, and customer satisfaction. Your efforts will directly contribute to maximizing equipment uptime and operational efficiency for our diverse client base. Key Job Responsibilities

Primary Responsibilities:
Team Leadership and Talent Development:
  • Lead, motivate, and develop a high-performing team of field service technicians, promoting a culture grounded in safety, respect, accountability, and continuous learning.
  • Deliver ongoing coaching and professional development through hands-on mentorship, formal training initiatives, and constructive performance feedback.
  • Conduct thorough evaluations, career development planning, and foster open communication channels to empower employees and support retention.

Service Operations Management:
  • Oversee daily field service scheduling to optimize technician deployment, ensuring timely and effective service delivery across multiple customer sites.
  • Direct service dispatch, job prioritization, resource allocation, and continuous workflow improvements to enhance operational productivity.
  • Provide technical troubleshooting support for complex mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, engine, powertrain, and electronic system issues by leveraging deep product knowledge.
  • Analyze performance metrics such as labor utilization, downtime reduction, and customer satisfaction indicators to drive operational excellence initiatives.
  • Maintain rigorous documentation standards, verifying accuracy in work orders, labor reports, and service logs to support compliance and transparency.
  • Ensure availability and upkeep of service equipment, tools, vehicles, and other resources vital for field operations.
  • Collaborate extensively with interdepartmental teams including Parts, Sales, Engineering, and Operations to synchronize efforts and enhance service effectiveness.
  • Identify and implement process enhancements to streamline service procedures, boost technician efficiency, and elevate customer experience.

Customer Engagement and Relationship Management:
  • Build and sustain long-lasting, trust-based relationships with customers across the assigned territory by understanding their needs and aligning service delivery accordingly.
  • Proactively address and resolve customer concerns, ensuring consistent responsiveness and a customer-centric approach in all interactions.
  • Conduct on-site visits to evaluate equipment performance, support service operations, and uncover opportunities for value-added services.
  • Collaborate closely with Product Support Sales Representatives and internal teams to provide integrated solutions that enhance customer equipment uptime and productivity.
  • Serve as the primary liaison for field service related matters, representing Komatsu West's commitment to superior service standards.

Safety and Regulatory Compliance:
  • Champion and rigorously enforce all organizational safety programs, regulatory requirements, and environmental policies within the field operations.
  • Coordinate and facilitate regular safety meetings, conduct audits and inspections to maintain a proactive safety culture.
  • Investigate incidents to determine root causes, and lead corrective actions aimed at preventing recurrences and enhancing workplace safety.
  • Promote risk awareness and mitigation strategies to protect employees, customers, contractors, and operational assets.
  • Ensure all field activities comply with current industry standards, legal requirements, and company policies contributing to a secure and compliant work environment.


Qualifications/Requirements

Mandatory Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent is required.
  • At least five years of practical experience in heavy equipment maintenance or field service operations, preferably within mining, construction, industrial, or related heavy equipment sectors.
  • A minimum of two years of proven supervisory or leadership experience managing skilled technical teams.
  • Comprehensive technical expertise in diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, powertrains, diagnostics, and related equipment technologies.
  • Strong aptitude for directing and optimizing service operations with a demonstrated ability to lead multidisciplinary teams.
  • Valid driver's license accompanied by a clean driving record to support frequent travel requirements.
  • Sound working knowledge of field service processes, including scheduling, resource management, and customer service principles.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Associate degree or higher in Diesel Technology, Heavy Equipment Technology, Business Management, or a related discipline.
  • Prior experience with Komatsu equipment and service technologies is highly valued.
  • Demonstrated supervisory background managing field service technicians and operations across diverse customer sites and broad geographic areas.
  • Proficiency using service management software, ERP platforms, and workforce planning tools to enhance operational control.
  • Strong understanding of heavy equipment applications within mining, aggregates, construction, or industrial environments.
