We are seeking a dedicated professional to join our team in servicing and maintaining gas detection installations throughout the Ottawa Region under our well-established QEL and Armstrong Monitoring brands.

The Opportunity

We are seeking a dynamic and results-driven Field Service Leader to lead and grow our gas detection service operations in the Ottawa Region. This role combines operational leadership, organizational integration, customer relationship management, and financial accountability to ensure the delivery of high-quality gas detection solutions, including calibration, maintenance, compliance, and emergency response services. The ideal candidate will bring strong technical knowledge of gas detection systems alongside proven leadership experience in field service operations and organizational transformation.

Principle Duties & Responsibilities

Operational Leadership
  • Lead daily field service operations, ensuring efficient scheduling, dispatching, and execution of service work.
  • Oversee installation, calibration, maintenance, and repair of portable and fixed gas detection systems.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, and company procedures.
  • Optimize workflows, tools, and processes to improve productivity and service quality.


Organizational Integration & Change Leadership
  • Lead the integration of two field service organizations into a unified, high-performing operation.
  • Align processes, systems, and standards (service delivery, safety, reporting, and customer engagement).
  • Assess and rationalize overlapping roles, territories, and resources to maximize efficiency.
  • Drive cultural alignment by fostering collaboration, trust, and a shared vision across teams.
  • Standardize KPIs, service metrics, and operating procedures across the combined organization.
  • Partner with leadership to execute integration milestones, track progress, and resolve integration challenges.
  • Identify and capture synergies, cost savings, and growth opportunities resulting from the integration.

Team Management & Development
  • Recruit, train, and mentor a team of field service technicians and support staff.
  • Set performance goals, conduct evaluations, and drive accountability across the team.
  • Foster a safety-first culture and ensure adherence to all health and safety protocols.
  • Support ongoing technical training and certification in gas detection technologies.


Business Development & Customer Relations
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients across industries such as oil & gas, utilities, manufacturing, and government.
  • Ensure continuity and retention of customers during and after organizational integration.
  • Identify growth opportunities for service contracts, equipment sales, and upgrades.
  • Partner with sales teams to develop proposals and expand market share in Eastern Ontario.
  • Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction and retention.


Financial & Operational Accountability
  • Manage regional financial performance, including revenue growth, cost control, and profitability.
  • Develop budgets, forecasts, and performance metrics.
  • Monitor KPIs such as technician utilization, service response time, and contract renewal rates.
  • Track integration-related costs and synergies to ensure expected value is realized.
  • Implement strategies to improve margins and operational efficiency.
  • Additional duties as required.


Compliance & Safety
  • Ensure all operations meet local, provincial, and federal regulations (e.g., CSA standards, environmental and safety regulations).
  • Maintain proper documentation, audit readiness, and quality assurance processes.
  • Lead incident investigations and continuous improvement initiatives related to safety.


Education, Training & Experience
• Ideally a 2- or 3-year technical diploma in electrical, electronic or mechanical engineering
• Field service experience in gas detection and controls, or adjacent industry (automation and controls)
• Must hold or be able to obtain a valid security clearance

Skills and Competency Requirements
  • Strong knowledge of gas detection technologies (portable and fixed systems, calibration gases, sensors, controllers).
  • Familiarity with regulatory and compliance requirements in industrial safety.
  • Experience with service management software and CRM systems.
  • Proven ability to lead teams through change and drive organizational alignment.
  • Strong financial acumen with experience managing budgets and operational performance.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and client-facing skills.
  • Strategic thinker with a hands-on leadership approach.
  • Combination of office, field, and customer site environments.
  • Travel within the Ottawa region and occasionally beyond.
  • On-call availability may be required for emergency service support.

Compensation and Benefits

At Greystone Energy Systems, compensation is determined based on several factors, including experience, qualifications, internal equity, and market competitiveness. This position is also eligible for comprehensive group benefits, bonus program, and retirement savings program.

Salary Range $95,000-$125,000

This position starts September 1, 2026.
