Job Description

As a Field Service Engineer for Agilent, you will work at a variety of labs, so having an appetite for continuously learning about new instruments, software, and consumables is key. Applying your communication skills, creativity, and can-do attitude is essential. The ability to help solve customer problems and a commitment to delivering the highest levels of customer service are key to building customer success.

You will be responsible for supporting our customers with on-site installation, preventive maintenance, and repair of Agilent Pathology and Genomics instruments.

Our product lines include hardware, software, networking products, and operating systems.

  • Installs and optimizes hardware/software/network products and configurations at customer sites.

  • Diagnoses and resolves product performance problems.

  • Performs maintenance and repair services.

  • Ensures customer satisfaction by advising customers on preventive maintenance and configurations, which may impact product performance.

  • Proactively responds to potential equipment or software issues to prevent unplanned interruption of customers' business.

  • Delivers (does not design) fully integrated solutions, which may include peripherals, communications, operating systems and applications software.

  • Serves as an internal resource on technical issues and manages product escalations Collaborates with Agilent teams such as Support, Sales, Marketing and R&D to provide solutions to customers.

  • May have knowledge of third-party products.

  • May deliver internal technical training and maintenance seminars and workshops for field engineers or customers.

  • May train other field engineers or customers.

  • May qualify leads.


Requirements may include, but are not limited to, proof of identification, proof of certification to perform the work required, customer health and safety requirements, etc. Must be able to lift 60 lbs.

Territory Coverage

  • The ideal candidate will reside in the San Deigo CA metro area.

  • The position requires an active driver's license.

  • Company Vehicle Program: Vehicle mileage reimbursement is eligible for this territory.

  • Territory: Southern CA, AZ, covering NV, UT, and Los Angeles as needed.

  • Overnight Travel 50% and could include weekend work, overtime, and overnight travel, as needed.

Job Requirement:

Meet Agilent-approved customer/vendor credentialing requirements necessary to gain site access, unless prohibited by law. These requirements vary by customer/vendor and may include, but are not limited to, post-employment background checks, various forms of drug testing, vaccinations, fingerprinting, proof of valid identification, and/or adherence to customer-specific substance abuse programs. Your consent to participate in customer-requested screening is a requirement of this position.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's, master's or other university-level degrees within the science field -- e.g. biochemistry, biotechnology or similar-- are highly preferred; may consider applicants with an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

  • 4+ years of experience working with analytical instrumentation, ideally including repair, maintenance, and/or troubleshooting.

  • Experience or expertise with Pathology handling equipment specifically IHC instrumentation.

  • Experience in Medical Diagnostics would be ideal.

  • Familiarity with functioning within the service standards of ISO 13485.

  • Ability to solve high-impact problems related to product availability; typically, system/ solution-focused.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Strong customerrelationship-buildingskills are essential.

  • Ability to travel 80% of the time.

  • A valid driver's license is required for this position.

Additional Details

This job has a full time weekly schedule. It includes the option to work remotely. Applications for this job will be accepted until at least July 8, 2026 or until the job is no longer posted. In the US, this position is eligible for choice of company car or reimbursement for personal vehicle usage.

The full-time equivalent pay range for this position is $46.13 - $72.08/hr plus eligibility for bonus, stock and benefits. Our pay ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
