Job Summary:The EV Charging Field Service Engineer is an energetic, self-directed problem solver and a key member of the site operations team at IONNA. You will work independently in the field and remotely, interfacing with our Call Center, Tier 2 technical support team, and hardware manufacturers/partners to troubleshoot and resolve EV charging station issues (A Hybrid concept). This role requires someone who thrives without direct supervision, takes initiative, and consistently drives issues to resolution. The ideal candidate will be comfortable with both hardware and software technologies and is able to execute effectively against demanding SLAs.
What You'll Do - Execute onsite maintenance and repair of IONNA's EV charging hardware and supporting power systems.
- Perform recurring site health checks across your service territory to proactively protect the customer experience.
- Partner with field service coordinators to prioritize and execute repairs and site checks that meet SLA commitments.
- Operate autonomously in the field, managing your own travel, parts inventory, and service priorities.
- Complete Field Service Reports accurately and on time.
- Troubleshoot equipment failures to root cause and recommend corrective actions that prevent recurrence.
- Provide onsite support to our facilities and commissioning teams as needed.
What You'll Bring - A minimum of 3 years of experience in a field service role.
- Break/fix and commissioning training on comparable equipment.
- Working familiarity with electrical and electronic concepts and their practical application.
- Ability to achieve and maintain IONNA EVSE partners' break/fix and commissioning certifications.
- Comfort with computer-based tools, including the MS Office suite and at least one cloud-based ticketing system such as Salesforce.
- A critical, analytical approach to troubleshooting and a genuine passion for solving customer issues.
- A winning attitude and a demonstrated sense of extreme ownership.
- Willingness to travel approximately 80% of each month to IONNA locations, including regular overnight stays depending on site location.
- Willingness to serve in an after-hours on-call rotation on a periodic basis.
- A valid driver's license and a driving record that meets IONNA's insurability standards.
Nice to Have - Prior experience in e-mobility or EV charging infrastructure.
- Experience supporting Tier 2 technical escalations or working closely with support engineering teams.
- Familiarity with OCPP-connected equipment, networked payment terminals, or remote diagnostics tooling.
Safety and Electrical Qualification - Work safely on and around energized AC and DC equipment, including medium-voltage service equipment, in accordance with NFPA 70E and IONNA safety policy.
- Apply lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures correctly and consistently on every applicable task.
- Select, inspect, and wear appropriate arc flash and shock PPE for the task and incident energy level.
- Complete and maintain NFPA 70E and any site- or partner-required safety training; qualified-person status Physical Requirements and Work Conditions
- Work outdoors in all seasons and weather conditions, including heat, cold, wind, and precipitation.
- Lift and carry up to 50 lbs unassisted, and move heavier components with lifting aids or assistance.
- Stand, walk, kneel, crouch, and work in confined or awkward positions for extended periods.
- Climb ladders and work at height, and safely operate hand and power tools.
- Drive extended distances between sites and maintain a stocked service vehicle.
- Wear required PPE, including safety footwear, eye protection, gloves, and arc-rated clothing.
