Field Sales Support Systems Engineering Manager, F-35 - Level 5 Enjoy a rewarding career with Lockheed Martin Aeronautics Field Sustainment (AFS) supporting operations in a very active and high operational tempo Site Manager position for the Komatsu Air Base (AB) in Japan. Our team is responsible for overseeing all on-site F-35 contractor support operations at Komatsu AB. This position will be the primary customer liaison to Japan Air Self Defense Force (JASDF) leadership. What You Will Be Doing Manages the identification of customer's system needs and responds to requests for proposals; performs feasibility and performance studies, including benchmarking, capacity planning, etc.; develops appropriate systems recommendations to meet customer needs, including system configurations, installation planning, etc.; prepares and presents technical product information to customers. Responsible for coordinating subordinate employee recruitment, selection and training, performance assessment, work assignments, salary, and recognition/disciplinary actions. Oversees post-installation and implementation responsibilities including technical consulting to customers and providing solutions to software problems. • Be the single-point of contact to oversee all on-site F-35 contractor support operations at Komatsu AB, Japan and will be the primary customer liaison to the customer in the field. • Report to the AFS Field Operations Regional Manager and maintain close coordination with the Sustainment Program Manager in the management of Performance Based Logistics (PBL) requirements. • Have overall responsibility for on-site contractor technical services, Autonomic Logistics Information System (ALIS), Interim Contractor Support (ICS) maintenance, Field Support Engineers (FSEs), training system support, support equipment coordination, support for local Maintenance, Upgrade, and Overhaul (MUO) activities, and sustainment spares warehouse liaison services. • Communicate squadron priorities and needs to the F-35 Lightning Support Center (LSC) and to key Program Management personnel to resolve critical maintenance and supply issues. • Manage project / support resources in compliance with cost goals and operating budgets and maintain sustained growth of technical and professional competence of the on-site support team. • Be responsive to the operational and support concerns of the local customer leadership and ensure responsive support is provided by contractor support activities. • Coordinate and support industry visits and deployed Contractor Field Teams (CFTs) to the site. • Execute management tasks that include (but are not limited to): oversight of all on-site contractor activities; planning and scheduling of on-site teamwork assignments (including potential contractor deployment packages); enforcement of safety and physical security procedures and directives; management of labor charges and administrative documentation. • Ensure personnel compliance with program, company, local customer and government agency policies and procedures; coordinate staffing and training requirements. • Be willing to work any shift and weekends; travel will be required. • Must be a United States citizen and possess an active Secret security clearance. • Must possess a valid US passport and pass a physical examination for overseas work. • This position provides Status of Forces Agreement (SOFA) within Japan. SOFA privileges include: base exchange and commissary access, APO post office box, DOD-sponsored driver's license, privately owned vehicle (POV) registration and annual POV safety inspection, and MWR privileges at the nearest US Military base. Basic Qualifications Basic Qualifications : The following Basic Qualifications are skills that a candidate must possess to be considered for this position: • At least 10 years of aircraft maintenance, operations or supply professional experience. • Demonstrated strong team and strategic leadership skills. Demonstrated strong verbal and written skills, as well as ability to lead clear communications techniques are required. • Demonstrated experience to coach teams, resulting in overall team growth and performance improvements. • Demonstrated experience managing aircraft, product and systems engineering support. • Demonstrated working knowledge of aircraft operations in and around aviation/aeronautical environments. Desired Skills The following Desired Skills are not required but are those skills that would set a candidate apart from the other candidates: • Bachelor's degree from accredited college in related discipline. • Experience working and interacting with senior management within unit, operations and maintenance communities. • Knowledge of F-35 pilot and maintainer systems & processes, and/or logistics support. • Candidate should possess a broad military aircraft support background and advanced interpersonal communication skills to be effective in a high tempo operational environment. • Ability to effectively communicate with supporting entities (e.g., Pratt & Whitney and local base authorities). • Experience in Foreign Military Sales (FMS) fighter maintenance, training and/or operations support desirable. • Prior military or civilian equivalent operational maintenance & logistics experience desirable --specifically organizational and intermediate maintenance experience. • Should be considered an expert authority in maintenance, operations and support disciplines. • Interim Contractor Support (ICS) experience to include retrofit management desirable. • Familiarity with the F-35 logistics, autonomic logistics information system (ALIS), technical publications approach and supportable low observable (SLO) support concept desirable. Pay Information Full-Time Salary Range: $129000.00 - $239600.00 The salary range for this position is as listed on the requisition. Please note that the salary information listed is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market(work location) and business considerations when extending an offer. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and can vary from year to year and are tied to a range of performance metrics. • For (Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.
