Compensation: $40 - $55/hr, depending on experience & qualifications
Overview/Summary:The Field Safety Technician will support the safe, compliant, and efficient execution of engineering, construction, and manufacturing improvement initiatives within an operating manufacturing facility. This position will provide hands-on field safety support for construction and contractor activities, conduct inspections, review work plans and permits, monitor safe work practices, and help ensure compliance with site safety requirements.
Key Responsibilities: - Conduct field safety inspections and monitor general work-area conditions and housekeeping.
- Review contractor work plans, job setups, and post-work area cleanout activities.
- Provide daily reporting on field activities and assist with planning upcoming work.
- Support contractor safety onboarding and orientation activities.
- Prepare and review work permits and risk assessments.
- Monitor contractor compliance with PPE requirements and established safe work practices.
- Investigate incidents and near misses and assist with appropriate follow-up activities.
- Conduct toolbox talks and safety audits.
- Maintain required safety records and documentation.
- Work closely with contractors, project teams, and site personnel to promote safe execution of field activities.
Required Qualifications: - Relevant degree or technical certification.
- Manufacturing or industrial experience.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated commitment to workplace safety.
Preferred Qualifications: - Previous field safety experience within an active manufacturing, industrial, or construction environment.
- Experience supporting contractor safety activities and monitoring contractor compliance.
- Familiarity with work permits, job hazard analyses, risk assessments, and other field safety documentation.
- Experience conducting safety inspections, audits, and toolbox talks.
- Familiarity with PPE requirements and safe work practices for construction and equipment installation activities.
- Experience investigating incidents and near misses and supporting corrective actions.
- Strong field presence with the ability to communicate effectively with contractors, trades, supervisors, and site personnel.
