The Opportunity

The Field Quality Manager is responsible for implementing and managing the quality assurance and control processes on a specific construction site. This role ensures that all work complies with project specifications, codes, and standards, and that the final product meets quality expectations. The position involves inspections, documentation, coordination with stakeholders, and proactive resolution of quality issues to prevent defects and rework.

What you will do?

Quality Planning & Implementation
  • Develop and implement project-specific QA/QC plans, inspection checklists, and procedures.
  • Supervise QA/QC team members, assign tasks, and monitor performance.
  • Participate in reviewing submittals and RFIs for quality compliance.
  • Attend pre-construction and quality-related meetings to coordinate project requirements.
  • Create, monitor, and close out completion/punch lists with support from the construction team.

Field Inspections & Compliance
  • Conduct and coordinate inspections of materials, equipment, and construction activities across disciplines (civil, mechanical, electrical).
  • Perform daily visual inspections and document workmanship and materials.
  • Witness and coordinate materials testing and commissioning of building systems.
  • Inspect delivered materials and equipment for compliance with specifications and approved submittals.

Documentation & Reporting
  • Maintain accurate records of inspections, tests, and checklists using tools like Procore.
  • Document field observations, daily logs, and prepare regular quality performance reports.
  • Track and report non-conformance issues (NCRs), ensuring corrective actions are implemented and documented.
  • Produce weekly/monthly non-compliance reports and statistical data.
  • Manage project documentation including submittals, testing records, and as-built drawings.
  • Take notes and photos of inspections and produce daily reports documenting work performed and any issues found.

Stakeholder Coordination
  • Liaise with clients, contractors, architects, engineers, and vendors to resolve quality issues.
  • Lead quality discussions on-site and in meetings with subcontractors.
  • Adhere to company safety policies and ethical standards and ensure compliance with safety and quality protocols across the team.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or equivalent experience.
  • 10+ years of QA/QC experience in large-scale construction projects, including 2+ years in mgmt. or equivalent experience
  • Certified Construction Quality Manager (CCQM)
  • American Concrete Institute (ACI) certifications
  • Certified Quality Engineer (CQE)
  • OSHA 10-hour or 30-hour certification
  • Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, codes, and standards (e.g., ASTM, ACI, ISO).
  • Proficiency in project management and inspection software (e.g., Procore, Bluebeam)
  • Excellent attention to detail, communication, documentation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and maintain organized records.
  • Physical ability to access all areas of a construction site and work in various conditions.
