Description

The Field Operations Manager serves as a highly visible field leader responsible for supporting project execution, workforce planning, leadership development, safety initiatives, and operational excellence across active construction projects. This position spends the majority of time in the field working directly with Superintendents, Foremen, crews, and project teams to ensure projects are executed safely, efficiently, and in alignment with company standards.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

-Maintain a strong field presence by regularly visiting jobsites and engaging directly with Superintendents, Foremen, crews, and project teams.

-Support project planning, crew organization, work sequencing, manpower allocation, schedule recovery efforts, and communication between field and office teams.

-Identify and resolve operational, staffing, planning, leadership, and safety concerns before they impact project performance.

-Participate in project startups, pre-task planning sessions, and preinstallation meetings to establish clear expectations and successful project execution strategies.

-Lead carpenter manpower planning and workforce deployment efforts across multiple projects, balancing labor demands and addressing staffing challenges.

-Partner with General Superintendents and Operations leadership to forecast workforce needs, identify leadership gaps, and mitigate operational risks.

-Provide direct oversight, coaching, and development for assigned Superintendents through field observation, mentoring, and quarterly development discussions.

-Lead Foreman development initiatives focused on leadership, communication, accountability, planning, professionalism, and safety engagement.

-Chair the Safety Steering Committee and support safety audits, incident reviews, training compliance, and safety improvement initiatives.

-Partner with field leadership to identify training needs and strengthen workforce development programs for apprentices, Foremen, and Superintendents.

-Participate in local trade union management committees to support apprenticeship and long-term workforce development efforts.

-Participate in bid strategy meetings and preconstruction planning by providing operational insight related to staffing, logistics, scheduling, and field execution.

-Support company initiatives and help develop standardized processes that improve field leadership, safety performance, training, planning, and operational consistency

-Demonstrated experience managing large project teams and multiple concurrent construction projects.

-Proven track record of developing and mentoring field leadership personnel.

-Experience with workforce planning, manpower management, and project staffing.

-Strong understanding of construction safety requirements, training programs, and field operations best practices.

-Experience participating in preconstruction planning, project startup activities, and operational strategy discussions.
