Position OverviewThe
Field Engineering Supervisor is responsible for leading Field Engineering staff while providing hands-on technical and project support for the Systems Integration business. This working supervisor role combines people leadership with advanced AV/IT technical expertise to support successful system commissioning, troubleshooting, and project delivery.
As a key member of the project and technical team, the
Field Engineering Supervisor provides day-to-day direction, coaching, mentorship, and development to Field Engineering staff while partnering with management to improve processes, maintain technical standards, and support operational performance.
This is an opportunity for an experienced AV/IT professional to lead and develop technical talent while remaining actively involved in field engineering, system commissioning, programming, and troubleshooting.

What You'll Do- Lead the day-to-day activities, performance, and development of assigned Field Engineering staff
- Provide coaching, mentorship, performance feedback, and technical training to support continued employee development
- Establish individual responsibilities and maintain accountability for team performance
- Provide hands-on field engineering support, including equipment configuration, programming, troubleshooting, commissioning, and documentation
- Partner with project teams to support successful system installation, testing, commissioning, and project completion
- Work with management to improve Field Engineering procedures, practices, and technical standards
- Support recruiting, interviewing, hiring, and onboarding of Field Engineering team members
- Ensure subcontractor work meets company quality standards and applicable requirements
- Provide overflow and backup support to Field Engineering and Managed Services teams as needed
- Ensure staff maintain required licenses and certifications and follow OSHA requirements, industry best practices, and company policies
- Oversee Field Engineering tools and test equipment
- Monitor team utilization and support achievement of the established 80% monthly average billable target
- Attend required training and maintain certifications as required
What We're Looking ForRequired Qualifications- Associate degree or equivalent professional experience
- 4+ years of AV/IT industry experience providing technical or engineering support
- Strong leadership, coaching, organizational, and communication skills
- Advanced proficiency with AV/IT software, tools, and test equipment
- Advanced experience setting up and adjusting audio, video, and conferencing systems
- Advanced experience with digital signal processors such as Biamp, BSS, Crestron, Extron, and QSC
- Advanced proficiency configuring wired and wireless TCP/IP networks
- Advanced proficiency loading, testing, and editing AV control code and graphical user interface files
- Proficiency with Crestron, Extron, and AMX programming languages
- Working knowledge of Python, HTML, C#Pro, or similar programming languages
- Working knowledge of digital communication protocols including IP, RS232, RS485, and USB
- Ability to set up and color balance video displays
- Strong computer skills, including business applications and multiple operating systems
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously
- Ability to travel and work occasional evenings or weekends based on project needs
Preferred Qualifications- Bachelor's degree
- 2+ years of supervisory or management experience
- AVIXA CTS-I or CTS-D certification
- CompTIA A+ certification or equivalent
Required Certifications- AVIXA CTS certification, or ability to obtain within one year of accepting the position
- CompTIA Network+ certification or greater, or ability to obtain within two years of accepting the position
