SUMMARY

Mortenson is currently seeking a Field Engineer with the ability to interact with a variety of staff at all levels in an ever-changing environment, remaining flexible, resourceful, proactive, and efficient with a high level of professionalism and confidentiality. The Field Engineer will support and complete the full cycle of field coordination issues with team members, subcontractors, vendors, and suppliers.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Provide pre-construction support
  • Manage submittal and RFI processes for specific definable features of work (DFW)
  • Evaluate and distribute project design and engineering documents
  • Prepare team for site mobilization
  • Research living arrangements for project team members
  • Prepare turnover binder templates
  • Assist with pre-mobilization kickoff meetings
  • Arrange short form subcontracts with local entities (power, trailers, housing, etc.)
  • Draft subcontracts and purchase agreements
  • Utilize Best Practice Database for SWIs, quality documents, prep meetings, etc.
  • Manage quality assurance & quality control as per Project Quality Plan
  • Oversee inventory process: inspection, offload, receiving, and storage
  • Coordinate DFW prep meetings, inspections, and punch list final inspections
  • Assist with material and equipment management
  • Manage mechanical, electrical, and plumbing coordination drawings
  • Coordinate creation of lift and formwork drawings
  • Manage production logs for work put in place
  • Track Event Management incidents related to Safety or Quality
  • Compile turnover documentation and transfer to customer
  • Assist with contract closeout with subcontractors and suppliers
  • Support final inspections and punch list process with customer
  • Provide periodic updates of submittal register to customer or architect
  • Participate in project safety audits and Zero Injury Safety Program
  • Determine alternative work methods as needed
  • Maintain schedule of timelines and ensure completion

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction, Civil, Architectural Engineering or Construction Management or other science or mathematical related degree, or equivalent combination of education and technical/field experience demonstrated over multiple years
  • Previous related internship experience a plus
  • Detail orientation sufficient to organize and effectively manage multiple tasks
  • Possess basic understanding of construction law and generally accepted business practices
  • Strong teamwork orientation, initiative, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Proven positive and professional attitude and customer service skills
  • Current driver's license

The base pay range for this role is $76,800 MIN - $96,000 MAX. (Actual range is higher for the following office locations: Denver, CO and Chicago, IL - 5%, Seattle, WA, and Portland, OR - 10%, Washington, D.C. - 12.5%).

Base pay is positioned within the range based on several factors including an individual's knowledge, skills, and experience, with consideration given to internal equity. This position is eligible for Mortenson's incentive plan.
