SUMMARY

Mortenson is currently seeking a Field Engineer in our Power Delivery Services Group to support and complete the full cycle of field coordination issues. You will be collaborating with staff at all levels including team members, subcontractors, vendors, and suppliers. Demonstrating flexibility, resourcefulness, dedication, and efficiency with a high level of integrity and confidentiality will be vital for success.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide pre-construction support


  • Lead submittal and RFI processes for specific definable features of work (DFW) using PMA and Project Connect programs


  • Evaluate project design and engineering documents, ensuring organization and distribution


  • Perform project-specific tasks in preparation for team mobilization


  • Conduct advance research on living arrangements for project team members


  • Prepare turnover binder templates


  • Assist with preparation of Pre-Mobilization Kickoff meetings


  • Compile, contact, and arrange short form subcontracts with local entities at the project site (power, trailers, housing, local subcontractors)


  • Assist in drafting subcontracts and purchase agreements


  • Review and utilize Best Practice Database for SWIs, quality documents, prep meetings


  • Lead all aspects necessary for construction support


  • Run quality assurance & quality control process as per Project Quality Plan


  • Handle inventory process as materials arrive on site: inspection, offload, receiving, storage


  • Coordinate DFW prep meetings, initial inspections, follow-up inspections, punch list final inspections


  • Assist Project Manager and Superintendents with material and equipment management


  • Manage mechanical, electrical, and plumbing coordination drawings, shop and as-built drawings


  • Coordinate creation of lift and formwork drawings


  • Manage production logs for work put in place (self-performed or subcontracted)


  • Track Event Management incidents regarding Safety or Quality in DFW responsibilities


  • Administer closeout processes


  • Compile turnover documentation for specific DFW and transfer to customer per project quality and TSO plan


  • Assist Project Engineer and Project Manager with closing out contract documents with subcontractors and suppliers


  • Support final inspections and punch list process with customer for particular DFW responsibilities


  • Provide periodic updates of submittal register to customer or architect


  • Participate in project safety audits and Mortenson's Zero Injury Safety Program


  • Establish alternative work methods as needed


  • Maintain schedule of timelines and follow through until completion


QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction, Civil, or Architectural Engineering or Construction Management


  • Previous related internship experience is helpful for this position


  • Detail orientation sufficient to organize and effectively run multiple tasks


  • Possess basic understanding of construction law and generally accepted business practices


  • Strong teamwork orientation, initiative, communication, and analytical skills


  • Positive and professional attitude and customer service skills


  • Current driver's license

The base pay range for this role is $78,800MIN - $98,500MAX. (Actual range is higher for the following office locations: Denver, CO and Chicago, IL - 5%, Seattle, WA, and Portland, OR - 10%, Washington, D.C. - 12.5%).

Base pay is positioned within the range based on several factors including an individual's knowledge, skills, and experience, with consideration given to internal equity. This position is eligible for Mortenson's incentive plan.
