Job Summary

Under general direction this position is responsible for providing off- site technical and operational analysis and support in the design, development, installation and maintenance of equipment. Troubleshoots technical problems and issues and independently determines and develops technical solutions to a wide range of complex problems or issues and recommends actions to customers. Conducts technical analysis of product modifications and enhancements in accordance with customer specifications and implementations. Provides guidance and training to customers regarding equipment. May function in an advisory or leadership role and provide direction and guidance to less experienced professional staff. The Field Services Engineer will support the following product lines: RMS (Radiation Monitoring Systems) located in nuclear power plants; Perses (industrial supercritical water oxidation) technologies used for the destruction of PFAS (Polyfluoroalkyl Substances) by-products; Gulftronic® - electrostatic separators that remove all FCC (Fluid Catalytic Cracking) catalyst fines from refinery slurry oils; TRIGA (Training, Research, Isotope, General Atomics) reactors, small research reactors found in universities and government labs.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Actively participates in FAT (Factory Acceptance Test), SAT (Site Acceptance Test), and installation oversight for RMS, Gulftronic®, Perses, and TRIGA.
  • Configures equipment, including loading software, testing operation, and making modifications per contract specifications.
  • Provides on-site software/firmware installation and configuration support for customers.
  • Ensures the system operates within expected parameters.
  • Assesses product needs according to specifications and recommends actions to the customer for appropriate product solutions.
  • Analyzes equipment failures to independently determine causes and recommend corrective actions.
  • Writes and reviews trouble reports, failure and casualty reports, test documentation, and procedures in accordance with product and customer specifications.
  • Designs, develops, and conducts customer training classes on system functionality, operation, maintenance, and basic troubleshooting.
  • Receives Field Change Order (FCO) notifications from the Account Manager and provides preliminary technical scope of changes to the Program Solutions Engineer.
  • Provides off-site and after-hours phone support for customers.
  • Possesses general knowledge of and experience with Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) and Human Machine Interface (HMI) systems.
  • Responsible for updating the Customer Relationship Management (CRM) database with information related to field service projects.
  • May function in an advisory or leadership role and provide direction to less experienced professional staff.
  • Serves as company liaison with customer on technical matters for assigned projects.
  • Responsible for observing all laws, regulations and other applicable obligations wherever and whenever business is conducted on behalf of the Company.
  • Expected to maintain a productive and safe work environment in accordance with established operating procedures and practices.
  • Additional Functions/Other duties as assigned or required.

Job Qualifications

  • Typically requires a bachelor's or master's degree in engineering or related field along with eight or more years progressive experience in engineering with a bachelor's degree and three or more years experience with a master's degree.Equivalent professional experience may be substituted in lieu of education.
  • Must demonstrate a complete understanding of engineering principles, theories, concepts and techniques.
  • Must have leadership skills including organizing, scheduling, conducting, and coordinating work assignments to meet project milestones or established completion dates.
  • Must possess the ability to contribute to the development of new processes.
  • Must be customer focused and possess:
  • The ability to identify issues, analyze and interpret data and develop solutions to a variety of complex problems.
  • Excellent analytical, verbal and written communication skills to accurately document, report, and present findings.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to guide employees and interface with customers.
  • The ability to maintain the confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • The ability to represent the company as a knowledgeable resource on external projects.
  • Excellent computer skills. Ability to work independently or in a team environment is essential as is the ability to work extended hours and travel, both domestic and foreign, as required.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance is required.
