Full Job Description
Your Role:

As the Field Access Manager, Rare Tumor for the assigned region, you will play a crucial role in facilitating patient and healthcare provider access to transformative therapies. Reporting to the Director, Field Access, Rare Tumor, you will be an essential part of the Field Access team, focusing on enhancing patient experiences with EMD Serono's (EMDS) products and services. Your impact will be significant serving as a key front-line representative dedicated to ensuring seamless patient access and delivering an outstanding customer experience for the EMDS Rare Tumor products. As a subject matter expert, your efforts will ensure timely treatment, unobstructed coverage, and proper distribution, which are vital for both patients and healthcare operations. You will collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to optimize patient access and educate healthcare providers across community, institutional, and academic settings.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Reimbursement Support: Assist healthcare providers in navigating the reimbursement landscape and patient access for Rare Tumor products, including prior authorizations, appeals, and denials. Provide personalized issue resolution for these processes.
  • Education and Training: Conduct training sessions for healthcare providers and office staff on HUB services, reimbursement processes, coding, and billing practices related to Rare Tumor products. Educate providers on payer challenges and claims submission.
  • Patient Assistance: Support patients in understanding their insurance benefits and accessing patient assistance programs for Rare Tumor products. Ensure a positive experience for healthcare providers and patients through collaboration.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including sales, marketing, and medical affairs, to optimize patient access and support Rare Tumor reimbursement strategies. Serve as the liaison to the HUB and specialty pharmacies to address therapy challenges.
  • Compliance: Ensure all activities comply with company policies, industry regulations, and legal requirements.
  • Data Analysis: Monitor and analyze reimbursement trends and issues for Rare Tumor products, providing insights and recommendations to improve access to the therapy.
  • Field Visits: Regularly visit healthcare provider offices to offer hands-on support and build strong relationships. Liaise with specialty pharmacies, SP Liaison, and internal teams to resolve access barriers and escalate issues as needed.
  • Patient Access Leadership: Lead the evaluation and implementation of patient access opportunities within your geographic area to ensure alignment with overall access goals. Develop and present tactical plans to internal leadership stakeholders to share insights and gain feedback.
  • Strategy and Execution: Support the Program Strategy and Management team and collaborate with Market Access/Value and Access partners by assisting with projects and initiatives that streamline and improve patient access for Rare Tumor products.


Who You Are

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in business, Sciences, or related fields, or 15 years of job-related experience.
  • 8+ years in the pharmaceutical industry, sales, market access.
  • Minimum 2 years field reimbursement experience.
  • Knowledge of private payer, Medicare, and Medicaid systems.
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to interpret data and improve patient/customer experiences.
  • Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to travel 40-60%, including overnight stays.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • 5+ years in specialty account management or managed care.
  • Technical knowledge of drug coverage policies and healthcare payment methods.
  • Proven results in resolving access challenges.
  • Understanding of HIPAA and compliance in reimbursement roles.
  • Experience in Rare Disease, Rare Tumor or similar fields.
  • Reside within 90 minutes of a major airport in the territory.
  • Ability to communicate openly and share information to foster trust while encouraging constructive debate, making informed decisions, and ensuring shared commitment to outcomes.
  • Demonstrated willingness to take risks and stand up for what is right while prioritizing the needs and experiences of customers and patients in all decisions.
  • Commitment to setting and reaching ambitious goals and setting high standards while acting in the best interest of the company and taking initiative to drive results.

Location: Assigned region includes North and South Carolina, Georgia and Alabama and is subject to change based on evolving business needs. The company reserves the right to modify, realign, expand, or reduce territory boundaries and customer assignments at any time to support business priorities.

Pay Range for this position: $143,100 - $242,500

The offer range represents the anticipated low and high end of the base pay compensation for this position. The actual compensation offered will be determined by factors such as location, level of experience, education, skills, and other job-related factors.
